El Pollo Loco — Restaurant in Poway

Everyone seems so nice here, I was excited to try it! My kid ordered a $10 Birria 2 Taco box at a different location and it looked amazing. It looked light in color but at the same time crispy. I did not get that. The tacos were dark in color and too hard if not dipped in the soup. The tomato soup is actually what I've been craving. Since it was discontinued at my favorite spot. But it tasted too much of tomato paste and the taco too much of oil. Not horrible but not great. There was also no napkin in my box, which I just took the box and left. I have not been to El Pollo Loco for many years and I was impressed with the refreshed menu which included low carb and vegan options. The family meals are a good value which included two sides, chips and salsa. The food was not good at all, it was mushy & tasted like everything was out of a can flavorless. I used the app to preorder and had a 20-minute drive to get there arrived and we still waited about 10 minutes. The inside dining room was a weird vibe, and its nice furniture but it's not inviting lighting is dark &feels very corporate.
