Strategic planning of newer stripmalls in the area truly contrast with the comparative waste of prime real estate this investment has become. Drive through it any of the 16hrs+/day not during proprietors' open hours, it's a near ghost town for half of them, and a row of locked up, abandoned liabilties for the the other third of any business day. Poway is too crowded to successfully operate with such narrow hours of operation windows for businesses, it stifles overall access to them, limits jobs to operate them, and exacerbates competition, traffic & pandemic exposure problems with daily traffic congestion reducing the number of places any person can realistically access during the limited working hours. Big box corporations are going to replace everything else at this rate, requiring fewer errands and providing more daily hours of operation. For example, walmart could do that, changing back to 24hrs would lure many that otherwise don't go there on principle, by offering low traffic, uncrowded, no waiting line sources for many home essentials and hobby items that aren't amazon convenient...with no rubbing elbows among sick people clamoring to squeeze through tight time windows for cheap merchandise, which is what makes their recent hours restriction so illogically arrogant-they discontinued the only feature they had with any competitive advantage for consumers-- in the pattern of this depressingly underutilized town center (that also has uncommonly quick freeway access convenience.) Poway of all places, with such cleanly separated residential and commercial zoning, should incentivize as close to 24hr operations as possible, to best use the limited road capacities and sustain the traditional small/local...
