Can’t believe this was the first time I’ve been to this place! My hair lady is in this plaza but Franco’s was always closed, their hours are 7-2.
Indoor dining has limited seating. There’s outdoor dining in the parking lot in front under the tent and they have a small patio on the side. I brought my dog so we sat under the tent.
We got Sausage and Eggs under the “Classics” which includes hash browns, home fries, or fruit. Toast, biscuit, bagel, or homemade muffins. The sausage can be links or patties, we got links (3).
Also got Country Bene under “Benedict’s”. Include choice of potatoes or fruit. It had three poached eggs, two sausage patties with homemade gravy.
Food here was amazing. My only complaint would be the description/definition of their fries. Or at least train the servers to explain correctly.
The “Classics” include choice of “home fries” which are diced potatoes. While the “Benedict” offer “potatoes” which are also diced potatoes! I wanted the steak fries and asked if those were home fries. She said yes. I kept asking and wasn’t sure and was about to show photos from Yelp but she was quick to say, I’ll bring it out and if you don’t like it, we can change it. Well, it wasn’t what I wanted and I showed her the pictures. She said oh those are called “French fries” that come with the burgers. To me, they look like potato wedges.
So they have home fries/potatoes (diced potatoes), French fries (steak fries/potato wedges), and hash browns.
I would rate 5 stars but the explanation of the fries knocked it down...
Read moreWe've driven by here numerous times and finally decided to stop and try it as the reviews were pretty good. It definitely has a small diner feel but not particularly in a good way, for me. I assumed the pricing would be, 'small diner appropriate', it was not ($65 before tip, $77 after, for 2 adults and one 4 year old) that actually shared our food. My 4 year old loves orange juice, but he couldn't even drink it as it was so bad. Coffee, very watered-down, and the creamers were from the little coffee mate cups. The service wasn't great, though they were hustling. It seemed like they were a set it and forget type of service. The food came out pretty quickly. It was basic eggs, French toast, and crepes. The employees were all talking about tips and how much all the patrons were leaving, loud enough I could hear it. We were still sitting after I paid, and they were talking about the tip I had left as well, very uncomfortable. This place seems like a local favorite, definitely not for us. I'd rather stick to Nutmeg, Harry's in LA Jolla, Snooze in Hillcrest, The Mission in North Park, or even wait 1 hour to go to Breakfast Republic. Sorry, I had higher expectations for this...
Read moreTerrible experience, Breakfast with Daughter , Son n Law & 2 grandchildren. Our server/waitress visited our table.twice in an hour n ½ , our coffee was served had to ask 3 times for creamers if not for Angel who was bussing tables we would have never rec'd. Our server never refilled our coffee, Angel & other servers took care of our needs , also needed to request water twice. Our server still no where in sight our food sat in the warming area to long , other server apologized that the condiments on the French Toast had melted. I had to go up & get add'l creamers & napkins.
PS - I ordered a Ham n Cheese Omelette to which I was told they didn't have I stated that that is a staple in almost every breakfast diner / restaurant , reexamined menu after a couple of questions I was told I could build a Han n Cheese ??? I built my Egg n Cheese Omlette Also we ordered Hamburger Steak n Eggs was misleading came out a Briquett & small , Hamburger Steak is generally a larger thicker patty & also generally oblong.
Needless to say will be last time I breakfast at this location
Could learn something from Orig Pancakes , Richard Walkers , Corky's , Blk Bear...
