Oscar's Mexican Food — Restaurant in Poway

Anyone who has lived in Poway for a while knows ol' Brick-bertos here has had its ups and downs since Taco Bell moved away from the location decades ago. Whoever is running the place now knows what they're doing. They've got a good group of people slinging out delicious dishes that just nail the world-renowned San Diego taco shop flavor. I judge these places on their California burrito, and Oscar's nails it with impeccable consistency and quality. They give you a forearm sized burrito with no fancy frills, simply meat, fries, pico, cheese, just as it should be. The carne asada is consistently well-flavored and tender without any gristle. I honestly think they're right up there with the likes of such San Diego favorites as Lolita's or El Azteca.

I eat here way too much, no doubt about it. But that only speaks to the consistency. I find most of these places have a dish or two that are great while the rest of the menu is kinda blah, but that is definitely not the case with Oscar's. I've popped all over the menu and have yet to find something that I wouldn't order again. The staff are all super friendly, too, I'm pretty easy to please in this respect, but they go a step above. I know I wouldn't be as friendly while trying to hustle orders out of a hot kitchen during these blazing inland...

The cashier at the drive thru is very rude. I am a mom of NINE children. NiNE. I have a lot of patience and I'm a very nice person. I asked her for extra red hot sauce and she huffed and rolled her eyes. She walked away without saying anything and I saw her grabbing the person behind me order and didn't see my red hot sauce so I waited for her yo come back to the window. She tries to hand me the green sauce she grabbed that I saw her grab thinking it was for the other order and I said, I'm sorry, I said red. And she had a very pissy/poor attitude. I haven't come back here in months because she had an attitude last time I was here also. There are plenty of other Mexican food places around town and I will take my business elsewhere from now on. Please fix your attitude young lady. Not our fault you chose a career you're...

Absolutely dispicable staff here. I have always ordered the same thing, egg, ham and cheese burrito. Tonight they left off the ham and when I went back they denied that they even served ham. Funny considering it's on the menu. Awhile back I also tried a California burrito and ordered a side of fries and they added a ton of fries into the burrito itself, not a side of fries. They should own up to their mistakes. Definitely will never come back. I suggest you remove ham from your menu as well, since you want to deny your mistakes. Rather than addressing them they say bye and turn the head set off. Good luck to anyone who ever has a mistake in their order....
