First Watch — Restaurant in Prairie Village

This was my first visit and I was very impressed with the place. I sat at a large booth that was very comfortable. Everything was very clean, including the numerous individual bathrooms.

I ordered the Bacado omelet. It came with thick, whole grain, toast, that was honestly the best toast I have ever eaten….seriously. It was amazing. The omelette was excellent. I was surprised when my breakfast came with a salad. I believe it was a spring mix, and it was very fresh and good.

For the last few hours, I have been debating going back in the morning, because I can’t get that breakfast salad out of my mind. I don’t know what the dressing was, but it was truly amazing. When I go back, I am going to try to figure out the dressing so I can emulate it at home.

The only negative for me, was the price of the soda I ordered. It was $3.69 for a fountain drink, which I think is ridiculous and I will just have water in the future. It’s not that I can’t afford it, but it seems a bit like gouging to me.

We love first watch! The staff is so friendly, and the service is great. Their food is absolutely delicious, and they even have some fun seasonal items - my husband loves the cinnamon chip pancakes when they’re available. Their breakfast potatoes are absolutely amazing- don’t miss them! I personally don’t normally like breakfast food, but since the menu includes some sandwiches and a wide variety of options, I’m always able to order something I like. The avocado toast is great, and last year they even had a variation with beet that I hope makes a comeback! Their coffee is also amazing. During covid, my husband and I have been ordering meals to go, and generally have had wonderful experiences. Our order did have a few issues once, but the manager, Mike reached out quickly and made it right- and he was so friendly and seemed to really care about customer experience. We actually always bring our out-of-town guests to first watch - it’s such a fun feel, affordable, and has something everyone would like, from health nuts to people wanting classic pancakes and bacon. 100% recommend...

First thing I would like to say that the serving staff has always been good to my family and I and the food is usually always delightful. I want to say that I do not usually post reviews but today I witnessed something that I could not keep to myself. Since it has happened to me in the workplace in my younger years. The problem I had today was with I’m assuming is one of the managers, white male with dirty blond to red hair. As I was standing in line he was scolding the hostess as she was trying to take my ticket and for me to pay. I couldn’t help but right a review about this because it seemed like her eyes were crying out for help. Quite frankly If this is how first watch is going to run their establishment I will make sure that my family and friends know about this situation and for them to eat elsewhere. I do not want to be associated with a place that treats their employees so disrespectful. Do better and I know that this doesn’t go unseen.
