We are tourists, visiting a family member in town so perhaps our accent is not totally American. It started with the waitress laughing in our face (actually laughing out loud) because we did not pronounce the word Ramen correctly. When she managed to calm herself down, she condescendingly asked us if we ever had ramen before. We had, on numerous occasions. We placed our orders and received our food. The starters were ok, it matched the price level so no complaints. But then the ramens arrived. My daughter had a big piece of plastic wrapping in hers. Mine tasted and smelled like it went bad, and three other orders were hit on the top, but cold on the bottom. The waitress apologised for the plastic wrapping and offered to replace the dish. My daughter refused as she lost her appetite. Some time later, the manager came around and asked us if everything else was ok, I told him the truth. The dishes remained on the table untouched. He got upset with us and told us that we must have never tried ramen before. I didn’t seek any further contact with him, I just asked for the bill. The same waitress came back holding an electronic screen with the bill, as I couldn’t see whether we were compensated for the dish with the wrapping in it, I turned to her and asked. Her response was to click on the next page were you choose the amount of the tip. I didn’t argue any further but I clicked on no tip and paid the 175$ bill. She got upset again and left without ever providing a recipet. Not sure if I ever had such a bad experience...
Read moreI loved the cold noodles and decided to come again. When I was eating, I heard the waitress constantly coughing and I got worried it might be contagious. So I ended up tipping 5% ($1) and explained my worry for the cough, hoping it would be a helpful feedback for them. The waitress said she has asthma which is not contagious. I apologized, and explained I assumed people who cough most likely have cold or flu. I also offered to tip more. However, the waitress just could not stop talking and got agitated. She repeatedly said that I discriminate against people who are sick, that I am not nice, and did not listen to my explanations. So I decided to just leave. She followed me outside, tried to convince predestrians that I discriminate against sick people, and called the manager. After the manager came, she continued saying mean things nonstop, like, "you study at Princeton but you're bad", "doesn't your mom tell you about asthma". Well, my mom tells me to be cautious of people who constantly cough and sneeze, as anyone with common sense would do. The waitress tried to persuade the manager to criticize me, but the manager stood in silence and seems like a nice man. He seems to know better how to behave in the service industry than the waitress. I might miss the cold noodles but won't...
Read moreThis place was a bit strange. They had all the typical japanese ramen offerings, but they also had a separate, hand-written menu with cantonese style food. The waitress also was advertising to us some kind of deep fried vegetable root (maybe lotus root???). Our group got two ramens, two Beef Chow Funs, Chicken Karage, Takoyaki, and that deep fried root. I got the beef chow fun, and it was solid. I tried some of the ramen, and it was okay. The chicken and takoyaki were below average, but we did not like the fried root. It was cut too thick and not seasoned. We much preferred the side salad and berry dressing that came with it. Service was also a little slow. They only had one waitress and the restaurant was maybe half full. The space was clean and looked like a typical japanese restaurant. Although, our table for four felt a little cramped. This restaurant seems to have an identity crisis, floating between Japanese and Chinese cuisine. For the price, the food was not worth it. I'd only come back here if there were long wait times for other places (which is why we came here in the...
