Having moved recently to McKinney and being of Mexican decent, my husband and I are always looking for good, authentic places to eat our comfort foods. We drove by and decided to try it; we had been to La Finca in Frisco but honestly this location was much better.
The place is very aesthetically pleasing and the atmosphere was calm, quiet, comfortable and welcoming.
We figured we’d try a couple different things since we were feeling adventurous and here is what we ordered:
• Cafe de Olla: a bit strong which I know some people love, I personally like my coffee to taste a bit lighter, but nevertheless DELICIOUS. when coffee is too strong for me I just give it to my husband which wasn’t the case this time.
• Mineral Limeade: when I ordered it I noticed it was taking a while to get to me. Initially we thought oh the waitress probably forgot: but then I look over and I see her cutting up limes and squeezing the juice out into a glass and couldn’t believe it was for me! I’m currently trying to stay away from super chemically altered foods and excessive sugars so knowing it was 100% natural just made it 100 times better. Delicious too.
• molletes: molletes were good. The best part? The bread. It was literally a spongy little could holding the refried black beans and chorizo. Like i need a pillow made exactly like this.
•barbacoa burrito: so barbacoa is a touchy subject for me. We normally stay away from ordering it in restaurants because it’s always a hit or miss: is it natural or is it sautéed? Is it gonna be super greasy? We decided to give it a try and funny enough this was the best barbacoa we’ve had in DFW that we didn’t make ourselves. Not extremely greasy and not sautéed. I do think the flour tortilla could be better but the meat made up for it.
• red chilaquiles with chicken: really good dish. This will probably be my order moving forward. It was surprising that the tortilla chips were actually crunchy and not soggy which is normally the case.
• strawberry empanada: again...

Read moreLa Finca in Prosper has amazing food. Our first visit was when they first opened and we had the barbacoa tacos, and they were melt in the mouth fantastic! The coffee is really good - we had a flat white and a cortado. Service is excellent and it's a lovely space.
Our 2nd time was for Mother's Day breakfast with our 2 young children. The chilaquiles, sweet potato empanada and huevos rancheros were great. Unfortunately, we didn't realize they don't have high chairs so it was a struggle to keep our 16 month old sitting with us and we had to hold her and eat at the same time. We still enjoyed it, but it would be great if they decided to get high chairs. We won't be able to go as often as we would like - only when we don't have the kids with us. It's a shame as it's so close to our home and this is such a...
