Gather Cafe & Ice Cream Bar — Restaurant in Providence

Run, don’t walk, to book an ice cream making class at Gather. We had a team outing to learn something new and the experience did not disappoint. Our Gather instructor, Andrea, is a retired chef - but could easily be a standup comedian as another side gig. She dropped knowledge throughout the class, explaining why we did the steps in a certain order, tips for how to repurpose phases of the ice cream-making for other food purposes, and kept us laughing and yelling “YES CHEF!” the whole way through.

The space was clean and welcoming, the ice cream taste testing (while we waited for our creations to chill) was DELICIOUS, and we left our class feeling delighted. 10/10 would recommend! Gather puts an emphasis on partnering with local food suppliers - so it was awesome to hear about how they support other local businesses in and around PVD. Along with our individual ice cream flavors, we got a special parting gift to commemorate our experience - an extra cherry on top that was unexpected.

I was honestly apprehensive at first because how fun can an ice cream making class really be? However, I was blown away! Dan was our chef and his personality was welcoming and exciting. Then chef Andrea chimed in and the banter became a hilarious back and forth of ridiculousness. We dubbed it the “last class sass”. Great personalities aside their knowledge and enthusiasm of their products is infectious, and I found myself caring more for ice cream than I ever thought I could. Andrea gave phenomenal input into our flavor choices, and even stopped one of our party from making a flavor blunder - so thank you for that! 10 out 10 will return because I need to try all the other flavors and have another glass of wine...

Our Fire and Ice class experience with Gather Glass and Gather Café were fantastic. We went for our 30th Wedding Anniversary and had a great time. Blowing glass glasses and learning about the process was fun, interesting and a cool experience. Then moving from the heat to the cool café was great. We could continue to watch other's blow glass through the window wall. Our ice cream making class was also a fun, interesting and yummy experience! We got to try a few of their unique and delicious flavors, make an ice cream base and then flavor it our way. Then she used liquid nitrogen to make the ice cream. It was so cool!
