Royal Lunch Restaurant — Restaurant in Providence

Ill be honest here without being just a upset customer writing a hate review. My girlfriend and I needed a quick bite to eat before being back on the road. We figured we would go to a high rated Diner. Diners are usually cheap and fast. This one was not. Waited 40m for only two omelettes and some bacon&toast. Nothing about that should take too long. We also got an orange juice and a coffee. My girlfriend and I have dietary restrictions, as we dont eat grains or starches Toast and homfries are a no for us. I asked to get some broccoli on the side instead, and I was informed I would could get that as an add on but I would still be charged for the homfries and toast. I asked for the omlette only then, and was told again I would still be charged. My girlfriends plate as well came with homefries and toast, she opted to not get them with her food. I was hoping after we had explained we cannot eat those items we would hopefully not be charged. Well we got the bill. And for 2x Omletts, the two beverages, and a side of bacon we were charged $19. Diners all over johnston, cranston, situate, hell even other diners in providence would have been $10 or under for some simple eggs and toast. Well they didnt leave a tip entry on the receipt so I assume they just tip themselves. Bacon was good and crisp, the feta in my omelette was plentyful ( but not a value for price paid ), eggs were too salty. Wont be going back, head a few stores down to classical cafe or a stree over to the grange and you will get a much better Value. No one wants to wait 40m for a 12-15m meal and then overpay for food we didnt eat/receive. I was surprised considering they have a lot of stars on google. It seemed like they were surviving off of overcharging the locals, they seem to like it enough to keep going back. Eat at Royal Lunch, and receive the Royal Tip Tax. 1/5 wouldnt...

I've been going to Royal Lunch since 2008 It's 2019 and My experience has been Awesome. They make you feel welcomed. I feel like if they are a part of my family. I recommend this awesome place to everyone that wants good friendly,respectful, cozy, family place with reasonable prices. I INVITE YOU TO GO AND CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELFS. Used to eat there all the time. Have not gone back since reopening after covid related shutdowns. Food is ok. I got charged once full price instead of add on for bagel and charged additionally for something else. Portions are small. Also, was once asked by owner not to stay too long on Sunday.
