Restaurant review: What a wonderful night! Here are my thoughts after dining for the first time. (September 2023) First of all, Jonny and Stephanie are amazing.
Drinks and oysters - the dirty martini is the perfect balance of brine and juice and olives and vodka. I always get a "Dirty Kettle" and compliments to the bartender and the server for bringing them out perfectly timed to pair with the oysters. (And yes we got bread and butter perfectly timed just before).
Food is sublime: Highly recommend the crawfish seafood fresh pasta special and the duck, after either the lobster sliders or the soup. We went for the Lobster and Corn chowder as a second course after wellfleet oysters. Soup was rich, meaty, and just the right level of tomato essence and spice.
Food is fresh, delicious and five star service for everything from plating to execution and thoughtful clearing.
Intrinsically sophisticated, yet approachable and friendly: that's the vibe I got.
Ask for Stephanie or Tommy as your server.(both amazing, we had Stephanie for the evening) and make sure to see if Jonny is the bartender who can truly surprise you with his skills of custom drinks.
Above and Beyond: Special shout out to Jonny for making the perfect dirty martini to go with my wellfleet oysters, yes i am saying it again because it was that good. Thank you to Stephanie for making sure to give me perfect recommendations with my food allergies and preferences (even confirming with the chef/kitchen without me prompting) along with timing everything in the right order especially given the fact that we were the last table seated, but felt like we had all the time in the world and were completely at ease.
Comment on other reviews: (Not sure why there are so many recent low reviews, we had an amazing romantic date night and never felt rushed or sent anything back)
For those of you wanting a seaside restaurant that is more focused on pomp and stiff "butler type folded napkin when you stand service" , I have some "mewsings" about where you can go on the other side of town - We would pick The Red Inn over other options any day of the week.
Overall impression: We loved the approachable luxury vibe, and the caring, genuine touches at The Red Inn our server took to make sure our dining experience surpassed expectations. Always there when we needed her but never felt intruded upon or interrupted - this is what fine dining is at it's best. From the timing of our 3-4 courses to the wine pairings and the flavorful food, everything was perfect. The Red Inn is where those "in the know" will continue to go!
Thank...
Read moreFinding reviews for the restaurant at the red Inn isn't easy as they both go by the same name. First the West End in summer is one of the most charming and beautiful places on earth. A walk before or after dinner is a must. The property and Inn are immaculate without being stuffy. As you enter you just feel the place drip with cape cod charm and class. The open bar is stunning. They know how to mix a cocktail and our dry, ice-cold Hendrick's three blue-cheese olive martinis were full to the brim and the perfect foil to a dozen, perfectly shucked Wellfleets. ||||Reserve a table outside on the deck or near a window if you can to catch the famous "Cape Cod Light" at sunset. Very romantic. Trivia: The beach in front of the Inn is the first place the settlers landed in in 1620. Just throw that one out casually over your drink. ||||Lobster corn chowder was delicious and a bit of a cross between a lobster bisque and a corn soup, not creamy like a clam chowder, which can be too heavy in my opinion before a fine meal like the one you'll have here. Perfect. ||||Fried panko shrimp with a sweet chile dipping sauce were delectable. I always like something fried before a meal and these were fresh, succulent and large enough to warrant two bites to finish. Yum. ||||The house chicken liver mousse pate was, well just okay. I was put off by the heat of spice (possibly cayenne?) which masked the subtle flavor of the chicken liver mousse. ||||Smoked duck with savory bread pudding had me swooning. The duck yielded to the most gentle tug of my fork to reveal sweet, smokey perfectly cooked duck. The warm bread pudding was divine. A total triumph. ||||My partner went with a halibut under a choice of ginger sauce that was maybe the most delicious and perfectly executed piece of fish on Cape Cod. Wow. This is what you come to Cape Cod to eat. A stunner. A crock of baked mac and cheese was a bit middle of the road and could use a reworking in a restaurant of this caliber and was just not on par with the rest of the meal. ||||I've dined at many if not most of the better restaurants in Provincetown over the years and have never had anything but drinks at the Red Inn previously. The food, staff, location and ambiance make the Redd Inn truly one of the Cape's most special...
Read moreThis hotel has great views and is right on the water. It is far away, half a mile, from the center of town which was very nice. It also has a large parking lot.|We arrived at 2 pm and waited for our rooms to be ready, by 3 pm, as noted on their website , both rooms were suppose to be ready, but one room wasn’t and the manager bought us a cocktail while we waited another half hour.||We stayed in the Monument View Suite and the Pilgrim Landing Suite.|Pilgrim landing had only one a/c unit which was in the sitting room and if I kept it at 63 and kept the French doors open to the bedroom and the bathroom door open they did cool down. ||While the Monument suite was very large it had two a/c units and was very comfortable.|However both these suites were right over the bar, and dining room on the first floor and it did get very loud after 6 pm.|So,if you are early to bed skip these two units. And when the bar and dining crowd left you could still hear the staff in the kitchen right below the Monument suite. So pick your rooms carefully.||Also breakfast started at 8 am which is late for us, and there was no chance for coffee before, so I brought my own keurig coffee machine. The whole town really doesn’t have any place early for breakfast, except Joe’s that opened at 7 but they are more of a coffee shop then breakfast.||Also you might want to bring your own hairdryer. My hairdryer in the Pilgrim landing suite overheated quickly (was a very old model that it had turned yellow from hanging on the wall) and it stopped working after a few minutes and I had to let it cool down. Twice I played that game then went to the front desk and talked to Mark who gave me push back that the building is old, old wiring, and something about bringing my own hair dryer. I mentioned to him that I only assumed that since I was paying $350 a night that the room would have had a working hairdryer. He never said, “Oh I’m terribly sorry I will get you a working hairdryer.”||We went to dinner and Mark must have spoken to a manger and when we came back there was a hairdryer hanging from...
