Came here as they serve Thai food and a couple things on the menu are stated to be gluten free. Ordered an Thai Ice Tea ($10) and a Mango Smoothie ($14). No prices on the menu for drinks by the way. I asked the waiter for gluten free options as I have an allergy. I believe his name was Dan? He pointed out what is good and I ordered the Coconut Thai Curry with tofu. The waiter assured me it was gluten free and the tofu was plain, not fried. When it arrived I knew he was wrong. There was a black hair on one piece and I pulled it out and found the tofu had been fried. I asked if it had been fried in a separate fryer to which he responded it was pan seared. Now if I was gullible, I wouldâve believed him but I pushed back and asked if he could check with the kitchen. He came back out, apologizing. It was fried with gluten. I almost was poisoned because of his and the kitchenâs carlessness. He asked if I wanted to order anything else. After betraying my trust and trying to lie to me? No. My boyfriend and I both lost our appetites. They did nothing else to try and make it right. Shady place. Donât come here if you have an allergy. Iâm sure they donât know this (or care) but if a person has a gluten allergy, enough exposure can make someone have an allergic reaction. Long-term gluten exposure increases your likeliness of developing cancer. It is 2025. Gluten free is not a fad. Some people are seriously affected. Do better. This all cost us $79.53 as my boyfriend got one entree ($29.99) and one appetizer ($19.99). He threw out the entree as he felt so guilty I couldnât eat anything with him....
Read moreIâve been to Monkey Bar in Provincetown before and generally enjoyed the vibe, but my most recent visit left me pretty disappointed. We ordered two Casamigos Blanco with lime juiceâshaken and served up in a martini glass. Nothing complicated, just a simple tequila cocktail.
To my shock, the bill came to $73 for just two drinks. In the past, Iâve paid around $22 for similar martini-style cocktails here, so I questioned the price. Even the bartender seemed unsure and asked another bartender to confirm. When I asked directly about the cost, his response was, âI donât make the prices, I just serve the drinks.â Not exactly the kind of service or transparency youâd hope for when youâre suddenly paying nearly $37 per cocktail.
I understand prices can change, especially in a seasonal town, but there was no menu shown, no heads-up, and no breakdown on the receipt to justify the steep cost. At the very least, customers deserve clarity on what theyâre being charged forâespecially when prices are that inflated.
I used to recommend Monkey Bar, but after this experience, Iâm not sure...
Read moreIts a big no for me too. Martini menu looked great but no prices. Menu said they serve a full 10oz martini as if no one else serves a full pour. I ordered an expresso martini and when they rung it up they called it a "double". Was in shock when they charged me $20. And ... it was premixed in the back and watered down. I've ordered top shelf martinis anywhere else in PTown and the most I paid was $18 and no one called their martini a double or watered it down. If you really like martinis skip the Monkey Bar! PS bottle of water was $9. Most I paid for water in PTown bars was $5 at Tea Dance. So the owner answered below. Here is my reply....you are wrong about no one serves a full martini....only you don't. And BTW I was there during your Happy Hour. Obviously my assumption that drinks would be discounted was wrong. Buyer beware. Its all hype...
