I never even got a chance to try the food because the customer service and business management of the owner was so bad. The WORST part of it all was that my credit card was still charged $200 WITHOUT my authorization.
My initial intention was to have a party of about 45 guests at Jimmy’s. However, Jimmy was so rude and provided negative rebuttals to my general questions about parking, decorations and the deposit that I changed my mind. He actually told one of his waitresses to help some customers because he had to “deal with this lady and her questions.” Even though both he and his cashier were told that I no longer wanted to have the party there, they STILL charged my card. They didn’t apologize at all. I called the restaurant the night my card was charged, but I didn’t receive a refund until after 6 days, insistent calling and involvement of the Forest Park Police and the BBB.
He’s was so disgustingly mean to me as if it was my fault the card had been charged. He blamed his cashier, but he didn’t offer any kind of compensation or apology for the problems he caused me.
He’s a vindictive crook and a fraud. Please read all the comments here to get an understanding of this business before you venture there. When it comes to big parties, Groupon or any other non-standard transactions, the owner is clueless and outdated.
Jimmy’s: It’s not his food that’s old-fashioned; it’s his business style.
In case you’re interested, here are the questions: Q: Can we bring in outside cake? A: I guess so, but I have desserts here that you can order. That would make more sense.
Q: Can we decorate the restaurant for the party? A: Listen, I don’t want any confetti or glittery stuff at my restaurant.
Q: Is there adequate parking for 45 guests? A: I have 400 guests a night, and they figure out where to park. This isn’t hard. I just charge your card and you show up. I don’t have time for questions; it’s a busy.
Q: Is there a more appropriate time when I could call? A: I don’t understand why you have these questions.
Like I said, it should be Jimmy’s: It’s not his food that’s old-fashioned; it’s his...
Read moreJimmy's Place Forest Park has become a go-to spot for takeout in our household. We particularly enjoy their chicken parmesan, chicken alfredo, and pizza. When the pizza is cooked perfectly, it's absolutely delicious, but unfortunately, it's often overcooked or burnt. This inconsistency is frustrating, but we keep coming back because, when they get it right, it's worth it.
The main downside to Jimmy's Place is the service. The bartenders always seem put out, and the overall service is less than ideal. On our most recent visit, I was dismissed by James while waiting for our to-go order. Perhaps he thought I was a food delivery person, but regardless, I was ready to order a drink while I waited but was never given the opportunity.
Another issue is the lack of consistency in food preparation. Sometimes our order is ready promptly, while other times there's a significant wait. Despite these challenges, we continue to order takeout because we enjoy the food. However, this has deterred us from dining in, as we'd love to see an improvement in their staffing and customer service.
Despite these issues, Jimmy's Place is capable of accommodating large groups, such as baseball teams or big families, which is a great plus. They also host live entertainment with singers from time to time, adding a lively atmosphere to the dining experience.
They offer outdoor seating, which is perfect for enjoying a meal on a nice day. Parking is convenient, with a lot in the back and street metered parking out front.
Overall, Jimmy's Place gets a 3 out of 5. If they can address their staffing and service issues and improve consistency, we'd be more inclined to dine in and possibly rate...
Read moreWe had a soccer pizza party of 20, there seemed to be an error on the restaurants end with the reservation that was made 10days prior event. When calling to confirm the 4pm luncheon in the morning the day of. I could tell owner was annoyed and when we got there even though nobody was in the back room but our party some of us parents felt the staff were kinda of unfriendly and annoyed. One of the parents even heard the owner and the bartender making remarks about our party. We had a group of 4 that rsvp and didn’t show not sure if the extra seated places were a factor. We paid $600 for 6 pizzas, 2 bowls of salad and 2 pasta dishes that were less than a full catering tray. Our alcohol tab was separate and another $125. We asked for pitchers of coke and sprite with our package, but got Coke and Diet Coke that was flat. We felt rushed by staff as there was party expected across from where we were seated. Servers were taking plates when folks still had pieces of pizza in hand. The staff was not very friendly, they seemed bothered and our group was not any trouble. I have no problem spending $’s however many of us parents didn’t see the value ($25 per person). We were better off ordering off the menu individual meals that came with an option of soup or salad but I was told that was not an option with a group of 20. I used to come here with the family all the time years back, waitstaff Gina and Grace were always so nice. I guess things have changed…btw we are also charged a $15 credit card processing...
