I am writing to express my displeasure with the service I received today as well as the lack of customer service. Specifically, I ordered a small catfish dinner fried hard. I was excited because I saw a family member in the restaurant which made the waiting time pass quickly. Fast forward, I get back to my desk to eat my dinner, and to my dismay, the fish was not fried hard, and it was extremely dark. I immediately contacted the store and asked to speak with the manager. When the manager came to the phone, I described the food that I received. He assured me that it was not old grease, and that was the way the fish has turned out today. I told him that this was unacceptable. The manager then requested that I return the food for a refund or a replacement. I then asked him what types of sandwiches were available. He mentioned the Philly Cheese Steak and I was happy for the exchange. Upon arrival, I opened my order and asked the lady at the counter if she had looked at the food before it was packaged. She rudely replied "well you asked to have it fried hard." I told her that I always request to have my fish fried hard, but this was a result of old grease, as my fish taste burned. She then looked at me and sighed loudly. She placed my current order on the counter (not a thank you and I'm sorry for the inconvenience). I opened the bag to check my order, which looked fine. I then asked her about cost of my original order and it was about $2 more than the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. She just looked at me, and I had to ask why I would pay extra and be inconvenienced. She quickly answered (after sighing again), "well I'll just give you your money back." I then said, "No, do you think you should maybe offer me a soda?" Her reply was "well the soda is greater than the difference of the other meal." God knows I almost cursed at that point. Anyway, I said I will have an orange mountain dew please. She darned near slammed the soda on the counter. I left with the intention of completing this review online and contacting the franchise owner. We have to do better with our customer service skills. If anyone knows the actual owner, please respond. Thank you. By the way, my Philly Cheese Steak...
Read moreMy family and I ate here for the first time today. We ordered a good amount of food as it was 5 of us. We ordered several desserts, several different meals and drinks. We returned several desserts because they were old and suggested that they check the others. Also, the frozen lemonade was wrapped in clear wrap and a gnat was wrapped under the clear wrap. We mentioned it to the manager and he was instantly irritated, snatched the register open and said it’s only 50 cents. Which was not the correct refund. I told him it’s not about the money. He felt it was okay since the gnat was on the outside of the cup under the wrap. He nor the lady who took the order apologized. First and last time eating here. Very unprofessional and there’s a lack of customer service skills. Also, the young lady taking orders clearly doesn’t want to be there and isn’t friendly at all. She miscalculated our total initially so be sure to pay attention to the prices...
Read moreJ&J Fish in Maywood is a standout among the many J&J Fish locations. Unlike some places where quality can be hit or miss, this spot consistently delivers fresh, flavorful food that never disappoints.
I’ve tried a good variety from their menu, and everything has been on point. Whether it’s the crispy, well-seasoned wings or their hearty Philly Chicken meal, you really can’t go wrong. The 6-piece wings with fries and lemon pepper is a personal favorite—perfectly fried, juicy, and packed with flavor.
Beyond the food, the customer service here is great. One of the staff members, in particular, is very knowledgeable and makes sure you’re taken care of. They also offer daily deals, which are worth checking out if you want to get the best bang for your buck.
If you’re in the Maywood area and craving some top-tier fried fish, wings, or a solid Philly, J&J Fish is definitely worth a visit....
