Shwings — Restaurant in Proviso Township

We stop and pick up food from Shwings and always have had fabulous tasting food and great service.

This review is not bad knocking Shwings whatsoever is knocking Door Dash.

I placed an order through door dash for shrimp, chicken, fish and mushrooms. I receive the order and the shrimp was missing. I immediately called the restaurant and they advise me how it was packed and I would agree with them because the hot shrimp did melt the Styrofoam slightly that the fish was packed in.

The manager that was working at the time advised me that he would have to call the owner and find out how to resolve this and he would call me back. A few minutes later he called back and told me they would cook another pound of shrimp however they didn’t have anybody to deliver it. I guess that’s why they’ve signed up with Door Dash.

I called Doordash afterwards and they refused to refund me the money. Door Door – who is a huge company did nothing for a customer however the small little mom-and-pop restaurant made good and sadly at their expense.

Had high hopes about the non breaded wings but the flavors are blah and my wings were drowned in a very unassuming sauce that I couldn’t tell the difference between the hickory smoked, the Cajun, the Wiskey and buffalo 🧐😞😭 Oh the fries….😒…..the fries taste like they were cooked in old grease with a bitter burnt taste towards the end. Not what you expect from so called fresh hand cut potatoes. The catfish was okay to my surprise but had a bit of the River waters attached to it! The COLESLAW WAS DISGUSTINGLY DISAPPOINTING! To think I ordered a large coleslaw! I think the 🦝 raccoons that dig through the garbage 🗑️ will not be pleased! I paid $60 for 20 wings with fries, coleslaw and a 3 piece catfish dinner. Yeah I should have turned on the stove at home! As a Chef, I would say it’s okay for a quick bite in the neighborhood if you are hangry like I was but certainly not worth a trip out of your way. I will never travel from Naperville to this place……Try your local bar or hit the grocery store! Experiment with your stove! Either way is better than this! Thanks...

Not a bad establishment! The place was super clean as others have commented. The host was super nice, very friendly place where I can see serves a whole lot of regulars. I would have liked to try more wing flavors, but you had to pay an additional 3 dollars to simply toss another set of wings in a sauce. Not interested for me personally, I'll just come back some other time which I'm sure is the intention. I had the mango habanero and I tried the Cajun as well, both where great! I loved the simplicity of the mango habanero sauce, literally felt like a simple 2-4 ingredient recipe, sweet with the perfect amount of spice to it. The popcorn shrimp was simple, really felt basic but that's the point of them. Breading it was fried in was super crispy and thin which is a plus, and the sauces they offered to dip things in where tasty. A nice solid buttermilk ranch, and their cocktail sauce was thin and homemade. A solid experience all around, priced well.
