4/25 Mauricio the manager only gives 2 half scoops of rice on a veggie salad but the lady gives 2 full scoops for meat salads. The next time he makes the salad and he asks what kind of meat, tell him you are still deciding, and to put the rice and beans first, then tell him you want vegetarian and see if he puts double what he just put. If not, tell him the other employees put twice as much on meat salads. Then he answered his phone in the middle of my order and walked off and didn’t return.
7/24 Tostadas come with shredded lettuce now and salads come with coarsely chopped lettuce. They put guac on the side when it is to go. The drive through lady isn’t very nice.
2/24 you can ask for coarsely chopped lettuce now! They kept changing their mind about whether tostadas have guacamole or not but finally said it does after I asked to talk to the manager.
11/23 the lettuce was chopped very fine and was not appetizing. This is a corporate decision for all Cafe Rios!

10/23 they didn’t put Guacamole on the vegetarian tostadas but gave me some when I asked about it. The manager said it is supposed to have it but didn’t know where it says it on the website. He will call me later when he finds out.
6/5/23 I asked for double rice and beans on my vegetarian tostada to remind them that it comes with that but they charged an extra $1.50 but didn’t give me even the basic double rice that it comes with anyways. Next time word it “please remember that vegetarian comes with double rice and double beans but don’t charge me extra for it…”
This place is so much faster than the south Provo location. They don’t have drinks after 9:30 pm.
This location has super quick employees and gets your food to you SO fast! Get the vegetarian salad and ask for a separate container to split it with your spouse (they forgot last time), specify that you want cilantro lime rice or they give you Mexican rice (go inside to verify because the call center said they don’t have Mexican rice), get half of each bean or all black bean, extra pico, easy on the tortilla strips, whole wheat tortilla, extra dressing, and make sure they put cotiga cheese (wasn’t on mine last time) and get a whole wheat Kids quesadilla (not the meal) for 59 cents. Or try the vegetarian enchilada style burrito with green medium chili sauce (the Tomatillo sauce is sickly sweet) and make sure they don’t forget the guacamole and add extra lettuce, pico, pay for a small dressing...
Read more[Update] So I went there yesterday (Sunday, about 6pm) for a fire-grilled chicken quesadilla. The person taking the order at the drive-through seemed about as impatient as they could have been -- they were talking over me, and I'm not all that slow of a talker. Also, I'm fairly sure I paid for the upgrade to fire-grilled chicken ($11.25), but I sure don't think I got the fire-grilled chicken. Not happy about that one.
Also, I was just looking at my bank account, and there's a day with a total of seven transactions from Cafe Rio -- four charges, three credits, all of the same size. No harm done, I suppose....but I don't think anybody wants to see things like this. It's sketchy. Care Rio, please don't be sketchy. If you're having problems with your point-of-sale equipment, you probably shouldn't wait to get those taken care of.
And maybe don't staff the drive-through with people who seem to hate working the drive-through.
You wanted me to come back to give you a chance to impress me? Make sure you're actually ready to leave a positive impression, when you invite people back. I may like the food, but the service (especially on Sundays) sure isn't leaving a good impression.
[Previous review] Sunday evening, quarter to 6 or so: I place my order (at the drive-through) with no apparent issues. I pull up to the window, hand over my card, get it back, wait a minute for the food. A different person comes up to the window, asks if I've paid, I say yes, they hand me a bag of food. I get home, the bag has no plasticware or napkins (for a quesadilla), and my request of "no pico de gallo please" was ignored. Oh well, not a huge deal. I have napkins and a plastic fork at home.
The quesadilla was tasty, if kinda dry....I think they forget the medium sauce that I asked for. I didn't smell or taste it at all. And the fire-grilled chicken, while delicious and high in protein, doesn't bring much moisture to a dish.
Overall, an underwhelming experience.
I don't think Sundays are the day to come here if you want Cafe Rio at its best, though. But hey, options are limited...
Read moreIf I could I would not give them any stars, I’m not the type of person to leave reviews, however I had called to place an order the lady I talked to was wonderful. I get to the store on time they didn’t even acknowledge me as I was standing, finally after 20 min I get helped & another 15 to get my order just to get home with my order all messed up I order 2 nachos pinto & black beans shredded chicken no Pico with cheese sauce, nachos all soggy no cheese sauce and no guacamole. So I called them back to see if I could get it fixed they said yes I just had to bring the receipt so I went back just so they could give me an attitude on the Togo line, they asked me to give them the food back that I didn't bring because I had called over the phone to make sure & they had talked to someone in the store staying that I didn't have to bring anything back besides the receipt after 25 min I finally get my order I get into the car to check it no cheese sauce I got back to tell them they give me this face of announce trust me I get it I once worked at cafe Rio but if they got it right the first time I wouldn't be standing there being annoying would I. The manger working that shift was kind & gave me a small container when I say small I mean small & it was the cheese at the bottom container because it was so pasty & so I guess she gave me that to pour over the nachos, fine I'll take it I'm starving at this point it was 8:45 pm. I get home I open my nachos no beans.… so all I'm going to say is the Provo cafe Rio on 2250 N university. the evening shift into the night sucks on the Togo line they have this one brat that has this attitude that she thinks shes all that by giving you a stink face bc they got your order wrong that I payed for so yeah I would like for them to get it right and I wasn't even being rude or mad about the situation it happens I understand all I wanted was to get it fixed, never again I'll be going to that location & if you guys want a good location Orem is...
