Me & my Dad stopped by around 5 pm for pancakes. There was literally no one else in the restaurant. We were seated by Sarah, (she was also our waitress around a month ago). She remembered us and knew of our situation (my 80 year old father, and senior veteran, has anaplastic aggressive thyroid cancer, with a huge hard tumor coming through his neck, right next to his asophogus. Therefore he can only eat very soft foods like pancakes and eggs.) Usually we don't have a problem getting the waitress or manager to make special substitutions for him. And this goes for ALL Denny's we've been to. Iain, one of the managers at this particular restaurant accomodated his special needs a couple weeks ago and gave him a great deal on a super slam allowing double pancakes and eggs instead of sausage, bacon, and hashbrowns. But this time when we came in, Sarah seemed to have a bit of a snobbish attitude when I asked her to do something similar. She immediately started shaking her head back and forth saying no, she couldn't do it. She told me she wasn't allowed to do that. I asked her why other waitresses and managers do it then, and she said that was them, not her. I mentioned Iain's name telling her he did this for my dad last time, and she rolled her eyes saying "yeah, that's why". I gave off the vibe that I wish Iain had been there so I could ask him for the deal instead. (Later on I found out Iain was actually there in the back at that time). But she didn't bother to ask me if I'd like to speak with him, or offer to bring him out for us at all. I finally looked at my dad, (which at that point he was feeling very awkward and had anxiety over the situation), and said maybe we should go elsewhere. Sarah shrugged with an attitude and said "ok", and walked off. The next day I called the restaurant and asked to speak with the manager. Iain came to the phone, and remembered me from a couple weeks ago. I told him what happened, he apologized profusely, and invited us back and said he would take good care of us. I thanked him for being empathetic and gracious. This is how all waitresses and managers should be, in order to bring in more business, and repeat customers. To be honest, me and dad had made the decision to not come back to the Provo location, after the way Sarah treated us. That is, until Iain invited us back. Thank you Iain for being...
Read moreIf you have 90 seconds, STOP TO READ THIS REVIEW! For our anniversary my wife and I had taken a trip to the area traveling, not for a special date but for medical care. We were rushed in getting everything together because my surgery date was moved up to the next day. So we booked a close hotel and left right after work, driving for hours to get here. When we got here we searched for somewhere close to eat. Due to it being just simply convenient we walked over to this Denny's. I cannot tell you how amazing this manager was, starting with the moment we walked in. It was not busy and he greeted us like friends. As we sat down and looked at the menu he continually checked on us as well as other patrons in the diner as if we were all neighbors over for a party at his place. He would stop and have little bits of a conversation with everyone just so we knew he was right there for us no matter what we needed. Even if it was just to chat about random tolics. I have never had this great of an experience ANYWHERE at a restaurant, let alone one that I have had a mediocre opinion of. Not only was the staff exceptional but the food was actually fantastic. So I want to again, thank the staff at this Denny's. Our dinner completely turned my frustrating, spur of the moment, stressful surgery trip, into a fun evening where we could eat great food and enjoy what we could for our anniversary. If you're hungry and want to be treated like a real person, dine at this Denny's where they care about the person...
