I contacted this bakery in October over email with a quote inquiry and to see if they were capable of doing this cake-- they promptly responsed saying they were capable of doing this cake for a reasonable price for the original 100 guests ($730). I was excited and told them I needed to discuss it with my Fiancé and we were still solidifying the guest list so we would be in contact when we had a better idea of the amount of people, and that my Wedding was 6 months away. (A groomsman recommended this bakery, so we were going to go with them because of my fiance).
November, December, I attempted contact over 5 times-- to request an updated quote with a new guest amount of 180, no response each time. I continued to attempt to contact them each month after, until finally having to go in person to talk with them. They told me that the person who did the quotes was out, but if I put my deposit down, and started my file, they would GUARANTEE call tomorrow morning with the estimate. So, they took a $350 deposit, and ensure they would call The Next Morning GUARANTEE 💯.
The next morning, no call. The next week... no call or contact....
I got so frustrated and upset, I went online and looked up cake tier sizes and Serving amounts MYSELF, and found a tier sizing size that calculated to estimate 200 guests in servings. I was expecting the quote to maybe double in price, be between $980-$1460 max.
I sent ANOTHER email stating to Just give me a price quote for this cake tiering with lemon cake, rasberry filling and buttercream frosting with my researched tier sizes size they had not gotten back to my at all.
They in turn emailed me back immediately $1824...... from $730 to $1824.....
That's a 150% increase, and their reasoning was, "we charge be the Serving size".
Instead of having the "250 servings" They said their cake would serve, only about 80 guests attended..... this cake WOULD NOT HAVE SERVED an additional 100 guests....
Let alone, the audacity of the "Capabilities" of matching the reference cake-- They INSISTED AND disregarded my requests each time I brought up my preference for a buttercream frosting instead of fondant Because I HATE FONDANT-- they said the flowers and decorations wouldn't go on buttercream...they didn't color match the burgundy, the gold was yellow, the flowers were fake and the other fake decorations were attached with sticks (so they could have been used in buttercream), the "piping design" was a single pressed on stamp of block frosting IN THE WRONG LOCATION all by itself near the side/back of the cake, the rasberry filling was BARELY there, and when we cut and separated the cake layers the cake crumbled apart.
This was THE WORST part of EVERYTHING!!
I even think in the contract, they were so cheap, they put in that they were to get their fake flower decorations returned... all like 5 of...
Read moreHere's what happened, although the owner will disagree: We went with Aileens but had to postpone our wedding date several times due to COVID. Aileen was super nice. I talked to her several times a couple weeks before the wedding and everything was set to go. The day before the wedding, no answer. The day of the wedding, no answer. I figured she's a professional (literally what she does for a living) and she'd show up with our cake. Wedding starts, no cake. Hour before the reception, no cake. Reception starts, NO CAKE. Our venue was at The Waterfront downtown, full of people and guests coming in from 9am-midnight. Aileen claims her and her crew were there at 330pm (ceremony was at 4, the hall was full of guests and all doors/elevators were open and ready to use) but says there was no one there and all the doors were locked, even though she's delivered to this venue in the past. Her story makes zero sense and she would not stop talking for us to get a word in. No apology. Just kept saying "so weird," and even mocked my husband (who is self employed) when he asked why there was no voicemail set up. Her answer was she's self employed and it'd be too much for her to answer all the messages left. Bottom line: cakes are good if you get them, but we paid for a cake we never got, we missed out on a once-in-a-lifetime experience, only left to feel stupid. She got our business but we will not go back or...
Read moreWe went to Aileen's to order our wedding cake because we were told it was one of the best in town. After placing the order, we were told that we could get test cakes to taste their offerings. We went ahead and ordered the two tests cakes for the two flavors that we wanted.
The next week we picked up the two tests cakes and were excited to take them home and try them. Upon tasting the cake, we looked at each other realizing that we could not possibly serve these cakes to our guests. The flavor was not good, the icing was salty and flavorless. It was also not the Italian buttercream icing that I had specifically requested and was told was on the cake. Instead is was an American buttercream made with shortening and powdered sugar. In addition the cakes fell apart into crumbs when we cut them.
Just in case you were to think I am some pretentious customer who doesn't know what she's talking about, I own a bakery in another state that was named best bakery in the city for 2017. I know good cake as do my customers. Had I tried to give one of these cakes to one of my customers, they would demanded and received a full refund. (I was refused a $35 refund on a $54 deposit by Aileen's).
I certainly understand that they are other reviews that said people love their cakes. But under no circumstances would I recommend anybody use this Bakery. If you have ever tasted good cake, stay far away from...
