I absolutely hate to write a bad review, but I just have to for this one. Not a ton of breakfast places in Luquillo, but this one has great reviews so we went here. My major complaint with this place is absolutely terrible service. After ordering our food “for here,” we waited about 30 minutes and I began seeing people who had come in behind us walking around with trays of food, so I went up and saw what looked to be my order waiting in the window to be picked up. I stood there and waited for 20 minutes while every employee walked by me, I couldn’t get their attention (it wasn’t busy at all, they were literally just having long conversations with each other and not caring at all about anything else) and no one picked up my food out of the kitchen window. I literally just needed someone to hand it to me. I finally was able to get someone’s attention and ask for my food. She gave it to me and started moving onto something else before I could even tell her I didn’t have any of the drinks I had ordered. So she gave me the coke I had paid for, and I told her I also ordered a coffee as well. She said she will make the coffee for me right now. I go sit down with our food, 5 feet from the service desk and keep and eye on the front to wait for my coffee she said she was going to make. It never came. Instead, another 20 minutes later after we finished our food, I walked back up and I saw 2 coffees sitting up there and she called someone else’s name and he came up and grabbed them. A guy that had come in almost 45 minutes after me. So I stood up there and waited to ask someone where is it? Specifically the woman who said she was making it. No one ever came, they were just eating food while serving food to the front counter, often touching the food they were eating to the plates they were serving, talking to each other and laughing. I don’t think they would’ve cared if I had dropped dead it was that bad. No one ever came to help me so I chalked up the coffee I paid for as a loss and left. I hope they enjoyed...
Read moreCame here for breakfast and it was an interesting diner-type place that also had a buffet with all of your favorites like arroz con gandules and what seemed (from afar) to be a fun arroz con dulce. They did not have pastelitos, but they had something adjacent to them, which were like longer, sugar-syrupy versions that were joyfully flaky. We got a few with the queso y guayaba filling and were not disappointed! I ordered their waffles and as a self-proclaimed waffle aficionado, I’ll attest. Getting yeast-raised waffles with pearl sugar is always a treat, I guess. The fruit on top was noticeably frozen, but seeing as we’re on an island where most of these fruits are imported, I can’t be mad at what’s ultimately a garnish, and it’s not gonna be any different in other places. If you happen to be driving by, I...
Read moreEverything is amazing here from the staff to the food and coffee! Iris and Kathy worked with my husband and I to cater a brunch the following day of our wedding. They were so nice to work with and patient with us! My husband and I got married at the Hacienda Siesta Alegre and found the bakery while checking out the area. The team made the experience so easy and my guests raved about the food. The pastries and waffles were a hit by all. The bakery also catered a delicious Thanksgiving meal for us. I cannot explain how great this made our trip. We were able to celebrate Thanksgiving with turkey and pernil and not have to cook a thing while on vacation. Hats off to the chef...
