Me and my boyfriend went on Valentine's Day and had a 8:45pm reservation. When we first arrived no one was at the front desk, and after several minutes we finally got to be seated. Once seated the waiter asked us what we would like to drink, it was a special night so we both ordered a glass of Moscato wine, which was the best part of our dinner. Once the waiter brought us our wine he asked did we know about the menu for the night. We said no this is our first time here, he then explained there was only one menu for the night $66 a person, you can choose one app and one dinner dish and dessert would be turtle cheesecake, along with the dinner you can have a bottle of their selected menu wine....which by the way wasn't told to us prior to ordering wine that was not on the dinner menu, and when we asked he said they can take of $15 from that bottle plus our $66 a person.....so we just moved on and asked if we have to purchase what was on the special menu and he stated yes. So its like we settled for what we actually wanted for dinner which was ok. Also when we received our app we had not silverware to eat with and when I asked a young lady she looked at me all crazy and brought me a spoon and then I asked for a napkin and she brought me these tiny paper napkins, and I look around and see everyone with nice cloth napkins. Once our main course came out we still had no silverware. The waiter dropped off out dishes and walked away prior to asking him for silverware. I had to wait another 5 minutes to get silverware to actually eat. Not my favorite choice of dinner options when for paying $66 a person. After we had been sitting for about 15 minutes another couple came in and sat at the table behind us, at this point their waitress offered a totally different menu option and they were able to choose different items. I even after the couple if I overheard correctly and she stated since they had a later reservation time they were allowed to, so I asked what time there reservation was for and they said 8:45pm, same as ours. After that I asked for the manager, she said our waiter was correct and they other couple had a later reservation, which was not true......we paid for our dinner and walked out disappointed after waiting for months to try this restaurant on a special evening. Worst part was when we got home, my boyfriend ended up making more food for himself because he was still so hungry once he got home. Over all just not how we wanted to spend...
Read moreMy husband and I went here for the first time on 1/29/18 with 11 of our other friends, some of which had been here before. We specifically went for the music and to try this place out... The food and drinks were great, we had made reservations like a week before and had been told our group was so large that we would be put at two tables that would be right next to each other... however, when we arrived one round table was on the patio and the other long table was basically by the parking lot and off to the side which did not make any of us happy plus it was very chilly that night and the wind was blowing. So anyway one of the people in our party spotted a table up front by the fountain in front of the musician so we grabbed that table (plus they had heaters around that area which was nice) and so I went to ask the manager (Chris) if we could move the other smaller round table next to us because we were all together and he was so great at accommodating all of us and we ended up having the best time! He also gave us complimentary deviled eggs because apparently they forgot about us for almost 30-45 minutes (no menus, water, no greeting from anyone, etc. - not sure what happened there) anyway I went to speak to the manager and to get menus for our group and Chris was so wonderful and that's how our night started... a bit rocky but we all ended up having great night! And bonus... to top it all off we got to hear the most talented and amazing young man sing and play his guitar up close and personal "Mike Imbasciani & his BluezRockerz Band" 😃He is Uber talented and we loved him and his voice and his songs! We would highly recommend this place to everyone! The atmosphere was so great and fun! The staff was awesome and went above and beyond after Chris stepped in to make our night enjoyable! Thank you Chris and we will definitely be back... for the food and drinky's and most especially to hear the sounds of Mike...
Read moreMy fiancé brought me here for a surprise birthday dinner and it was absolutely amazing!
As a vegan, I have found that many restaurant menus tend to stick with salads, french fries and steamed vegetables as their “Vegan Options” despite there being so many savory dishes you can make with similar ingredients. This is hard after living in places that offer a variety of vegan options.
Winesett House doesn’t spell it out on the menu but our waitress Kendall (such a sweetie and super attentive) was very quick to share that the chef is always happy to whip up a vegan, vegetarian or gluten free option if I can provide an idea of what I might enjoy. That’s already a win in my book because in my experience, only a confident and skilled chef is willing to go off menu.
We enjoyed our meals (the food was delicious!) and a brief encounter with another staff member named Levi who was also very attentive and had a smile that could make anyone’s frown turn upside down which is always so nice to see, especially in younger generations working in the service and hospitality industry.
Just when we thought the night couldn’t get any better, we had the opportunity to meet Chef Travis, and despite how busy he was, he sat down to talk with us and answer some questions we had about potentially hosting our wedding reception there. The conversation flowed effortlessly and we also loved hearing about some of the family history of the business. I’m happy to say that by the end of the conversation, we had booked our wedding reception and are now well on our way to plan for our next happy occasion at Winesett House.
Thank you to the entire team for making my birthday dinner an overall truly...
