My recent stay at The Wyvern Hotel left much to be desired. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the experience would be far from what we had hoped. The room temperature remained at an uncomfortable 75°F throughout our stay, despite attempts to adjust the air conditioning. This made the room feel stuffy and uncomfortable, especially in combination with the bathroom, which had no ventilation. After a shower, the bathroom would stay steamy for an extended period due to the lack of air circulation, turning it into an almost unbearable space.
The state of the room itself raised concerns, with missing tiles in the shower and a non-functional telephone, both of which detracted from our comfort and sense of safety. The problems weren’t confined to our room. The hallway outside and the elevator shaft were sweltering, making it uncomfortable to move around the hotel, especially when we needed to leave the room.
Service at the hotel was inconsistent. When we first arrived, we met another staff member at the front desk during the day shift, who we also saw when we left that day. However, our main interactions were with the young man who worked the night shift. He was the only person we saw from any sort of management or staff presence, and while he was very helpful—going out of his way to find us extra pillows and towels, despite the apparent shortage—there was a noticeable lack of overall staff and management.
Given that there was a tropical storm approaching, we knew we would likely be confined to the hotel for much of our stay. On the morning of the storm, we spoke with the front desk to ensure that our room would be cleaned since we would be spending the entire day inside. Unfortunately, this request was ignored, and the room was not cleaned, which was frustrating and disappointing, especially after taking the time to confirm our needs.
Overall, while there were moments of good service, particularly from the night staff, the overall experience at The Wyvern Hotel was marred by uncomfortable conditions, maintenance issues, and a lack of reliable service. These issues significantly detracted from what could have been a much more pleasant stay. I hope that management takes these concerns seriously and addresses them for...
Read moreI’ve always wanted to stay here, and was excited to finally do so however after our stay…not impressed at all. Loved the rooftop bar and food, and the rooms are nice which is why I gave the second star. Hmm where to begin with issues: we had to basically beg for additional pillows. They only provide two per bed. My 3 year old son was excited to use the rooftop pool. No signage, direction or indication that it would be closed. They didn’t even inform us at check in, the menu that was updated during our stay multiple times, at the elevator lists the pool hours. Got him dressed to go up, closed the entirety of our two week stay. Between Dean’s (the bar next door) constant noise between arguments/live music ending at 2AM and the exterior construction to the building that started at 7AM, we are exhausted. There are only about 20 parking spaces total for the hotel, and no parking passes so you have to wait for spaces to become available as the adjacent lot, will tow your vehicle if left overnight. Internet/TV in the rooms are extremely spotty and would buffer every 20mins. On the last night of our stay, the air conditioning in our room completely stopped working around 2AM, we called the front desk which their reply was “yeah, they do that sometimes.” They did allow us to sleep in another room on the same floor, however after moving my sleeping 3year old at 230am and finally getting him back to sleep in the new room, I was hoping to sleep in. Front desk started calling at 9am, and wanting to know why we didn’t move our belongings out of our original room. After explaining 3 times the AC went out at 2AM and we were not going to move all our belongings that early in the morning, they had no clue the issue with the AC even occurred. I had all of 5 mins, housekeeping was hovering directly outside the door, to vacate the new room, with my sleeping son, to return to our original room (STILL with no AC) - overall, it was a terrible experience that left us completely exhausted. I...
Read moreCame here for the weekend and what a treat ..this is one of the nicest, cleanest and most beautiful hotels I've stayed at in Florida.. great bonus is the restaurant which I didn't have time to try downstairs but we did check out the rooftop bar" service in the bar isn't that great and the girls who work up there ignored us but we finally had a guy help us with drinks... I ended up enjoying myself despite a bad start with the girls....** I'm a choice member and I love that this is a choice brand hotel so if you have a online account and book on it you are earning points that can be used towards a future stay or other options are available.. we checked in on Friday and stayed til Sunday.. heads up they do charge you a $100 deposit and it takes every bit of a week to drop off.. it's to bad its done because as much as I paid per night it shouldn't have to be done" I'm assuming that they had issues with past guest because I've never stayed with Choice as a loyal member and had to pay a deposit that would take days to come off.. but::: the room and stay was so nice that now that I can anticipate the extra cost I'd still come back because of all the positive pluses of this hotel... I love that to get to your room floor you have to use your key"" ( if I ever stay here alone it's comforting that I would feel safe) upon entering the room I was impressed with the spaciousness and what an awesome view from the windows ..(we were on the 5th floor).. the bed was great and the mattress so comfortable. Even the couch by the window was comfy.. but I'll admit my favorite was the very clean and fantastic soaking tub!! It really was such a treat to stay here especially before I start treatments nearby at the hospital... thank you staff and housekeeping for a memorable weekend..I am counting down til I can return to...
