Bill's has been an area favorite for years. What once used to stand with the likes of Jason's restaurant, PJ's Donuts later PJ's diner and more recently Main St. Grille as one of many options for your breakfast enjoyment has found itself standing tall long after others have fallen.

While not the only breakfast place in town, Bill's has a name and brand of products (English muffins and the homemade corned beef hash come to mind.) That continue to resonate with us locals. While this most recent trip was a first for me in quite some time the food was the same quality I expected from previous visits.

My party picked up 2 steak and egg meals with rye toast and an order of 2 french toast with a side of bacon. The steaks both came at the proper temp ordered, the eggs were perfectly over easy and the home fries were as wonderful as I remember being seasoned enough to not be bland but mild enough for a customer to salt and pepper to suit.

The waitress was wonderful, while I sadly forget what her name was, I will tell you she was warm and attentive. My shy daughter ordered her food a bit slower and got flustered when she couldn't remember how she likes her food. She also asked for extra rye toast later, and the waitress never seemed put out or irritated at the less than confident interaction that my daughter engaged with.

The price was about what one would expect. I'm sure there are places that cost less and there are definitely places that cost more, but the prices should not be considered a deterrent. The food is fresh, many items are made in house and day of, these prices merely reflect the quality and time put into the food offered.

Over all a 4.5 star experience. I couldn't speak to what would make it 5 star, which I understand can be frustrating for those looking for areas to improve, but I would imagine it would be smaller frivolous things that were more attune to...

I wasn’t impressed at all. My first time going, and I wasn’t greeted by anyone despite multiple people making eye contact with me. Finally I asked if I should just seat myself and was met with a “yes sorry I was just about to say that” as if I wasn’t completely ignored. I ordered eggs Benedict medium well which came out ICE cold. I’m not someone who likes their food super hot and I’m alright with food being warm but it was COLD. For 9+ dollars and the risk of salmonella I think cold eggs benadict is a huge red flag. I ordered French toast as a safe go to just in case, but it had a weird almost clove aftertaste. So that was a no but at least it was warmer then the eggs. I tried their hash browns which were hot on the outside but somehow cold on the inside. The syrup I used on the French toast tasted watered down. It barely had any taste at all. I tried their home fries which were the only good thing. They were warm, well seasoned. My partner ordered an omelet which I didn’t try but the egg looked dry, and the omelet looked more like a burrito then an omelet. I was super disappointed and won’t be returning to this place. Honestly, for the 30+ dollars I spent I feel like going to a fast food place for breakfast is going to 1. Taste better and 2. Be cheaper...

Putnam is full of little gem's and Bill's Bread and Breakfast does not disappoint! Upon entering you are greeted with a friendly Hello and the scents of fresh baked bread and cinnamon. After making a brief scan of the menu, I thought I may settle on the Crab Cake Benedict. I asked our waitress how the crab cakes were, she said "Amazing", I said "I'll try them!" My husband decided on the same. The very first bite let me know I made the right choice. The english muffin was homemade and baked in house, the crab cake was amazing, just as promised. The hollandaise sauce was absolutely perfect, smooth and rich. I got my egg runny and it was also done right! This dish was spot on and will be something I will look forward to having again. My husband also tried a blueberry cheese danish which was great. The waitstaff is friendly and knowledgeable. Bill's Bread and Breakfast should be your go to spot for breakfast or an early lunch, they close at 2 p.m., I know we will be going back...

My family and I have been coming here for years. It's probably our favorite breakfast spot. Its always cozy, nice spot to just eat and talk with family and friends. I always order their veggie omelette but decided to go with the classic eggs Benedict and a blueberry pancake. My dad ordered a bagel, home fries, and eggs. Both orders were so good. The bagel and pancake are made there and taste so fresh. The eggs Benedict was really good. The blueberries in the pancake were do delicious and the coffee is good. I've also bought some of their muffins as well and those are so yummy. The service is good here too, the waitresses are always attentive and nice.
