My fiance and I were previously interested in The Sweet and Savory Cafe for catering our wedding this summer, but left from our visit there feeling very upset and unwelcome. I recently emailed the owner about catering for my wedding. After communicating back and forth, we decided on a date and time. When my fiance and I arrived at the said time, the owner did not know who we were or why we were there. I explained that I had emailed her, and she suggested we may have the wrong location. I pulled up the emails and showed her the 2 most recent emails, which were me recommending a date and time, and her confirming it. After seeing the emails, she claims that she now remembers, but I never confirmed with her. I am still unsure what else needed to be confirmed, and if there was a question on my confirmation, why did you never follow up? I have been thinking for days as to how this was an honest mix-up, and I truly do hope you have a genuine explanation for why you denied meeting with us. The lack of willingness to work with us or schedule a new meeting does make me question whether you weren't expecting a gay couple to show up at your door, and that is why you denied us? If that is the case I am glad I know how you feel now before I hired you.
Edit to reply to the owner: I am not sure what other confirmation you would have needed after your last email to me was "Hi Anna yes that works. Karen" You have been extremely unprofessional throughout the process especially since you never offered to reschedule after the apparent...
Read moreThis is a great little spot for a quiet and comfortable lunch. We've wanted to try it for a while and finally had the time. Was glad we did! There are a handful of tables configured so that it's cozy, but not crowded. The service was fantastic as everyone working there was extremely friendly and genuinely happy to make sure customers are well taken care of. The menu is creative with just enough options to appeal to everyone without being overwhelming. I had what I think was called the Blue Baron (I'm questioning my memory) and it was solid. I did have order envy of one of my co-guests who ordered the special of the day: BLTA wrap w/salad. It was a really balanced wrap (meaning, all ingredients- including the wrap were a good proportion), great salad and delicious dressing. If I were to give a little constructive criticism, it would be that the sandwiches could use a little sidekick on the plate. A paw full of chips or a pickle would be a better presentation and "feel" like a better value. We'll definitely be back and look forward to trying the amazing sweets that they are...
Read moreThis place converts three boring ingredients into a gourmet meal for a great price. The bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado (BLTA) sandwich on wheat was intelligently skewered with two skewers to help stabilize the consumption of this traditional meal so that it didn't become messy when you were a few bites into it. The lettuce was just as crispy as the browned bacon and the tomato didn't slide out of the sandwich. Mustard and mayonnaise were balanced. Service outside was frequent enough to not be excessively annoying which speaks to the intuition of the waiters here to detect the subtlety of great customer service. All of this in a shady spot on the corner of a quiet town in Puyallup made for an...
