📍Hakata Ramen 🍜 Quincy, MA $38 for two (before tip) and the food hit the spot, especially on a rainy day. I got the R1 pork bone soup and my husband got the R3 pork bone soup with double chashu. It’s a cozy spot with comforting food. Parking on Hancock St can be tough, but there are options on side streets (3 min walk).

This is a wonderful spot for high quality Japanese food. The inside is rather small, about 5-6 tables. The folks working there were all very attentive, kind, and polite. They accommodated our requests for our food and everything came out hot and fresh. This place is a gem with a HUGE menu of unique items. They have sushi burritos, sushi pizza, poke bowls, ma po tofu ramen, and a lot more. I will definitely be back. Yaki Gyoza - pan fried, well seasoned filling, and an unbeatable crust at the bottom. Served with a delicious sauce, highly recommended. 5/5 Karaage - Perfectly breaded and fried chicken. I only wish there was a sauce to dip them in or a lemon to cut the fried flavor. Still delicious and recommended though. 4/5 Hakata Gekikara Ramen - A delicious and spicy miso broth, beautifully charred chashu pork, and well cooked noodles. I can’t wait to try the others, but this was a great start. 4/5 Katsu Curry - There aren’t a lot of places to get katsu curry in the area and they didn’t disappoint. The curry complimented the potatoes and carrots. The pork cutlet was nicely breaded and fried to perfection. It was comforting and soothing. I will definitely be back for this. 5/5

The restaurant is connected to other small restaurants with a few tables and is popular with takeout. The building has some parking in the back and connects through the kitchen. The service is great and our server refilled our waters often. Something cool they have here is weekday combos. On Thursday, I got the combo that included a small Philadelphia roll, beef rice and spicy pork ramen. The ramen is regular sized with the other items app sized. The beef is really good and I'll want to get that as a meal next time. The ramen had a good spice level to it and has good flavor. Add this to your list for Quincy restaurants.

I've eaten here several times in the past year (dine in and take out) and the food is always excellent - fresh, flavorful, and good portions.

However, after getting dinner here tonight, I have to change my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars. Most of our food was great (kaarage, katsudon, chirashi), but the yaki ika was chewy and seemed to be boiled instead of grilled (yaki ika literally means "grilled squid").

When we got the check, I was surprised to see that half of the items we ordered had a $2 to $3 upcharge each. When I brought this up, the server cut me off and pointed out that all their menu prices fluctuate and that they don't update their menus with the new prices. Some of their menu items in larger font have hand written stickers with updated prices, but most don't. If the price of some items truly fluctuate on a day-to-day basis, then label it market price, or let the customer know when they order that the price is actually a few dollars more and ask if that is OK.

While most of my experiences with Hakata have been positive, this bait-and-switch left a bad taste in my mouth. If you choose to eat here, double check the price...

The restauraunt itself is small and design is plain but none of that can be said about the food that is served. If you want to get a bowl of ramen, make sure you come hungry. Large portions of flavorful broth with a healthy balance of noodles and other ingredients. Most bowls have meat and several vegetables along with the broth and noodles. Service is very attentive and accomodating; they may not be overtly friendly but they get your order right every time and they get your food fast. The sushi is also excellent, they have a variety of different rolls to choose from. Drink selection is limited, I dont believe theyre allowed to serve alcohol. Overall if you have a craving high quality ramen or sushi, hakata ramen is where you...
