We recently stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. After initially reading the negative reviews, I considered cancelling our reservation. In hindsight, I am glad I did not. First, for those who complained about the noise, if you want a quieter room, definitely request the second floor as we did. You won't have the footsteps overhead and the constant foot traffic coming and going to the main office and breakfast area. We had two rooms near the back of the hotel. With the exception of a crazy party at 1:30 am in one of the rooms next door, it was fairly quiet. (Another guest called the police and they came quickly to address the issue.) We kept our fan on too, so the white noise helped. Second, regarding the rooms and decor, I'm not sure how recently they were redecorated, but they definitely showed signs of wear. A fresh coat of paint would help, and definitely vacuum the floors rather than mop since they were gritty. Otherwise, the rooms were clean upon our arrival with comfy beds, plump pillows and surprisingly fluffy bath towels. As others have stated, there is no room cleaning unless you are there more than 3 or 4 days. That didn't bother us at all. After two nights we requested fresh towels from the front desk. And third, if you want breakfast, get there early. They serve breakfast from 6:30 to 9:30 am. Don't walk in at 9:15 and expect it to be fully stocked. It's not a 5-star buffet, but it got our day off to a good start. I read reviews that said there was nothing to eat. They must have showed up late because we ate between 7:00 and 8:00 am all three mornings and there was plenty to eat. For hot food, one morning there were scrambled eggs and bacon. The next morning there were cheese omelets and sausage, and the last morning cheese omelets and bacon. Two mornings we arrived and either the eggs or bacon were gone, but within minutes, fresh food arrived. We just had to be patient while they prepared it. In the meantime, we enjoyed fresh fruit, granola bars, bagels, toast or baklava (nice touch!). There was also yogurt and cereal, hot coffee, tea and juice.
Extras that would improve the comfort of the room: Remove the hooks for clothing and add a hanging bar. There were plenty of hangers, but they are not meant to go on coat hooks. The bathroom definitely needs more hooks or a bar to replace the single hook was hanging out of the wall. A shelf would be nice too. Also, add a full-length mirror somewhere in the room.
And if you want people to find your hotel, please add some lights to your exterior sign. It is nearly impossible to find after dark.
All-in-all, the hotel offered clean comfortable beds, a quick breakfast and a convenient location for our...
Read moreThis hotel was nothing like it was represented as online. The hotel was very dirty, someone on the second floor was smoking cigarettes and weed which filled the hallway. The shower and bed sheets both had hair from previous guests, and stains on the sheets. The towels also had stains and had an odor similar to used deep fryer oil. Soap was not even provided in the bathroom to wash hands. The couch was also suspect with white stains all over it. The rooms did have a decent size mini fridge which was nice.
The worst part of the stay was that walls were so thin that the man staying next to us was actually laughing at OUR JOKES. We heard all of his conversations as well, seems like a nice guy but has a bad cough.
On our last night a guest staying in the room on the other side of us decided to blast the same song for 6 HOURS STRAIGHT! Not kidding, the same song, starting at 2 am. We called the front desk to ask for assistance after the blaring base, screaming, and partying had gone on for an hour. The front desk woman was rude and unhelpful. She repeated multiple times that she did not need to do anything to assist, that the hotel had no policies to help with this and that there was no manager. After the same song played for another other, we called back to the front desk. She repeated that she was not going to do anything bc the hotel did not have a policy on this. She finally called the room next door and nothing changed. The music blared on. In the am we went to the desk and she was still there. She said that she had called and the man had been "very rude to her on the phone." And she just kept repeating that he had been rude to her. Offering no assistance in the matter. Meanwhile the same song was still playing ( now 830 am) She refused to do anything, was defensive and fought us on providing any information for a manager. She refused to refund us at all. We had not slept since 2 am and were tortured by the same song, screaming and partying next door. She finally gave us the email for a manager. The email was for someone at giri hotels. Meaning that is not really a nice chain of Howard Johnson hotels at all, its owned by a subsidiary company. We wrote an emakl to the manager explaining what had happened and never got any response at all. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Do yourself the favor of spending the $30 more a night to stay at a decent hotel.
In response to the manager- A room change was not offered. Now you're just being dishonest. Why have you not responded to our emails? That would be step one in...
Read moreMy friend woke up with a bite mark on her face Zero stars. I arrived at 5-6pm yesterday. Checked out two hours ago. So I called before I made my reservation, to figure out a form of payment and the staff at the front desk was very unhelpful over the phone. He actually hung up before I could reserve the room. I checked several other locations for a hotel All ranging around the same price. I reserved my room and made my payment online after I called for the second time no answer. I paid almost 200 for a king bed. When I arrived the front entrance was closed I literally had to walk past several doors, every door entrance had a arrow stating next entrance. When I arrived I checked in and noticed my room was directly on the first floor. I asked if I can be moved up to the second floor, the staff at the front desk literally told me the hotel was sold out of rooms. He must of not realized I made my reservation online and I seen other rooms available for the same price as what I paid for. I had to show him and his response was he was going to charge me and extra ten dollars for the room I requested for. I was really going to pay it but I settled for the first floor. When I arrived inside my room I received a phone call from the staff at the front desk and he asked me if I wanted to move up to the second floor. I was excited, I took all my belongings and left to head to the second floor. I wake up and my friend has a huge bite mark on her face. We haven’t stayed not even 24 hours. I checked in at 5-6pm and I left at 8 am. The staff refused the refund as well as threatened to call the police because I recorded the whole conversation for my protection. Before the staff threatened to call the police the smack my phone. Completely ridiculous. My friend is going to the hospital now. I am washing my...
