Reviews of Little Duck Thai Restaurant

I normally don’t care to write reviews for businesses even if the experience was that horrible but I feel somewhat of a moral inclination to write this one. I’ve been giving Little Duck at least a dozen tries over the course of 15 years and nothing has changed regarding their poor business ethic of skimping.

The first time I tried Little Duck, I had their pad Thai. Very little meat and mostly noodles. I normally don’t jump the gun and give businesses the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe I just got unlucky so I decided to order their pad Thai a few more times. Same thing. Very little meat and mostly noodles. It was pretty consistent.

A few years later, still giving the benefit of the doubt I tried Little Duck again. This time, I ordered their signature Little Duck fried rice. Again, very little meat and mostly fried rice. Now I’m starting to see a pattern but maybe I got unlucky again so I decided to order the dish a few times but to my dismay 😔, the same results. Still, I gave Little Duck the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe I’m ordering the wrong dishes. Maybe there’s more meat in their entrees.

Now, in 2021, I decided to try them again so I ordered a Tom Yum soup and a Tamarind Duck entree. The entrees at Little Duck don’t come with rice when most places give a side of rice with their entrees which made me roll my eyes but I still accepted it being the easy going customer that I am. No big deal. Anyways I brought my food home and again, the same results. The Tamarind Duck dish has so “little duck” in it if you get my pun. Surprisingly, the Tom Yum soup had a decent amount of chicken in there which is not consistent with their track record but I guess if they skimped on their bowl of soup then it would look horrible giving someone a bowl of just broth.

Overall, I give Little Duck a 1 star rating due to this type of business practice. I’m not a rookie in eating Thai food. I’ve tried dozens of Thai restaurants, small and large. Amongst the Thai restaurants I’ve tried are Brown Sugar, The King and I, Montien, Nud Pub, Rodee and Bangkok City which was one of the best Thai restaurants for main entrees and specialty dishes but is closed now. With that being said, I have a gauge of what other restaurants are doing when making my comparisons.

I see mostly good reviews on google for Little Duck and wonder who’s writing these reviews and whether they have ANY experience with Thai food. I also see other reviewers stating the same things that I state and the owner responds and tells the reviewer to call him back so he can make them another dish but why wait until someone complains to do right by them. I’m sorry for writing this review, Little Duck, but I don’t want anybody to feel the way I do like they just got their wallet stolen out of their back pocket when they...

I usually go to a The Noodle Bar for thai food, but decided to check out Little Duck because it is closer to my home. The lady on the phone was very sweet. Unfortunately, I got the complete opposite service when I went to pick up my food. It was such a weird experience that I am still a bit perplexed. When I entered there was only one person there ordering food. I was never greeted, but I waited my turn. The lady handling orders never made eye-contact with me when I moved to the counter and instead went to answer phone calls. I figured that once she hung up she would inquire if I was ready to order or here for pick up. But she continued to walk around busily and after 10 minutes of waiting at the counter with about 6 people working behind it and knowing that I was there, I was totally perplexed. Noone made eye-contact, which told me they were busy, but really, this is not how restaurants run businesses. I finally interrupted a woman and said "Hi, would you please check on my order." She did and apparently my food had been right in front of me as I waited the whole time. She apologized, but I'm still not sure why I was ignored and had to wait over ten minutes while there was no line for my pick up order.

I ordered pad thai with chicken to try it for the first time. It smelled like sea food and I don't eat anything from the sea. It was so off putting that after 3 bits, I put it away in the fridge. I can't say anything bad about the food given that I hadn't eaten pad thai before and perhaps that's just what it tastes like.

Pretty negative experience, and maybe it was a fluke. But going back to The Noodle Bar where I love the food and always get...

After trying Thai food for the first time last night, and choosing Little Duck Thai, I was extremely disappointed to find a long fine hair in my pineapple fried rice and the mango chicken was extremely soggy. I immediately called the restaurant to report it. She kept me on hold several times, for long periods, and only offered to make a new rice. I honestly thought they would have offered better service recovery by delivering the new rice dish to us or offering something free of charge for the inconvenience. Instead, I had to go pick it up. In 2018, they do NOT use gloves, nor hair-nets to prevent hair in the food and contamination, which is HIGHLY unsanitary, and not the proper way of handling food. Although they were extremely apologetic, their solution did not suffice. I don’t think we will opt for Thai food anymore anytime soon. The crab ragoon and new order of...

If you’re looking for a clean and cozy little joint to eat some Thai food then Little Duck is the place for you! From the moment you enter the establishment, you feel welcomed and the food is so yummy. Food: I ordered the milk tea and enjoyed the flavor of it. I also had the chicken pad Thai and was not disappointed. I’ve had lots of pad Thai from different places in the country and this one is one of the better ones I’ve had the chance to try. The pad Thai sauce tasted excellent and it had a good consistency to it. Atmosphere: It’s a quaint and cozy little place. There’s a small amount of tables available but when I went around 2pm on a Thursday, I was seated right away. Price: The price of the food was very reasonable! I felt like I received my money’s worth here. Parking: There is limited availability for street parking in front of the restaurant.

Inside is small but space-efficient (8 tables). Lots of cute duck decor. Didn’t feel like the AC was working when I went, but there was a fan. Not a lot of dine-in customers but tons of take-out orders. The kitchen was like a well-oiled machine. I tried Khao Moo Deang (listed as Red Pork on Rice here) for the first time at a nearby place and really liked it, so I wanted to try it here to compare. It was more expensive here at $14.95 for the same portion size as the other place I tried (granted, the portion size is filling). However, the pork was sliced much thinner and was a bit overcooked, so it was dry. I wouldn’t get it again. However, the Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango ($7.95) was good. The heart-shaped sticky rice was cute. It came with half a mango. The coconut was thick and creamy.

Revisited the little duck this evening. It has been a while since I've visited this restaurant and they ran across my mind today so I decided to give it a shot. The same meal, shrimp and chicken curry with white rice. The Casher who took my order did a great job or interrupting what I was describing I typically get from the restaurant. As you can see from the last time posted, over a year ago, the dish looks and tastes the same. I highly recommend the little duck for best Thai food in Boston. Although I make my own Thai, and coconut curry dishes with multiple curries I purchased when visited phuket. You should definitely try the Penang at this establishment it's pretty good. I don't like a lot of chicken, they obliged me by adding more bamboo shoots. It's made to perfection.
