The Loft at Furnace Brook — Restaurant in Quincy

Giving this a 3 star since one bartender was attentive, warm, and efficient, the food is good and the space is beautiful. However, the bartender with the dark hair and bun makes me never want to return. I first went to to the Loft with my parents for lunch on a very quiet week day about a month ago. This bartender was working the bar and waitressing, but the place was dead. We were the only table seated and were not in a hurry or demanding in anyway, but she made us feel like a nuisance. She approached with a sigh and answered any question through gritted teeth. My parents and I figured she just had a bad afternoon. We even tipped more than 20% since we assumed she must have really had some awful stress going on since she was seething with anger.

I returned last night for a group gathering and had another awful encounter. I wanted to let her know that my beer glass was cracked--something I only spotted close to the end of my drink, which is surprising since it was a HUGE long crack that split off into two small cracks that luckily did not penetrate the outside. Unsure if there was any broken glass inside, I stopped drinking the beer. I showed her the broken glass, explained it had never been dropped or banged and said I figured it needed to be discarded. Before I even had a chance to then place my order, she said, in the MOST condescending tone, "Ohhhhh, so like do you want me to pour you another two sips of beer into a new glass?" and laughed. I explained that was not necessary to which she again said in a tone that you'd use to talk to a toddler, "awwww, are you SURRRRRE, I can pour you two sips?". It was strange behavior and incredibly insincere.

Umm . . . first of all . . . yes, I am ok! Thankfully this broken glass did not harm me. I only brought it to your attention so that no one gets hurt. I imagine one more run in a dishwasher could have created a bit mess and/or injuries.

Secondly, I never asked for a replacement. In fact, I did not approach in any demanding or angry way. A friend was next to me and his eyes were wide over her response and he shrugged his shoulders at me.

I told her I was all set but stayed at the bar hoping someone else might wait on me. I think MAYBE she realized she been rude and asked if I needed anything else and I told her I was going to order another beer and a glass of wine.

I vented to a few friends and several of them said they had also experienced her being rude and dismissive (both last night and on other occasions). A member I know added, "oh yeah, we just all accept that she is like that and just ignore it".

Not sure why someone with that kind of attitude works in the service industry. I don't want to feel like I am a nuisance as a customer so while this spot has many positives, I...

We chose The Loft at Furnace Brook to host a surprise birthday party with a guest count of about 70 people, and the afternoon was nothing short of perfection! The general manager, Padraic assisted us with booking our party and promptly responded to our questions prior to the event.

The space was absolutely beautiful and the entire staff was incredibly attentive, professional, and friendly. The food was excellent and the staff was well-prepared to handle the volume. We felt completely taken care of and could relax and enjoy the celebration with our friends and family. Even our guests commented on their plans to hold future events here at this gem.

We had a wonderful experience and highly recommend this venue for anyone planning a special event for a large, non-private party! Thank you to the entire team at The Loft @ FB for creating such a memorable experience. We'll definitely...

I recently held a bereavement luncheon here, and I can’t say enough about how wonderful the experience was. From start to finish, the staff made everything so smooth and stress-free during such a difficult time.
