I was told that I had to try the Brick & Beam by a friend a little while back. So, we (the wife and I) found some time this past weekend to check it out.
Now let me start this by reminding you that I am always fair and take pride in being very honest.
We decided on Sunday lunch. We arrived right around noon time. It was not very busy. The bar had what looked like some neighborhood patrons (who all immediately turned and gave us the once over). There were not very many people at tables. So there were plenty of places to sit. The hostesses looked like a couple of 13 year olds who didn't say much much other than "Table for 2?" And proceeded to sit us at the closest table to the door, next to a young lady working on a laptop who looked at us as if we were interrupting her. And immediately asked to be moved to a table on the other side of the room. (Truely rude...) moving on.
We sat there for a good 5 minutes before a waitress came over. I ordered two glasses of wine. And we were given our menus. After reading the menu, I got a craving for meatballs. Which were all over the menu except the sandwich section. Which was what the wife was looking at. My wife decided in the French Dip. (One of her favorite sandwiches when she orders a sandwich. I wanted a meatball sub.
After waiting another 10 minutes for the wine to come, we made sure we placed our orders because it seemed right from the get go this was gonna be one of those lunches where we were gonna wait for everything.
The first thing I ordered was the pretzel appetizer. The wife ordered her French Dip, and I asked since they had meatball dishes all over the menu if I could get a meatball parm sub. The waitress said Noo Problem... so if was excited.
No lie another 15 minutes go by before we see the waitress again, and that's only because I had to wave her down for another glass of wine. I also asked to check on our food.
A few more long minutes went by, and we finally got our second glasses of wine. And, I asked again to check on the food, specifically the pretzel appetizer. And she said I'll be right back. No more than a minute later, our sandwiches come out. Not the appetizer, our lunch sandwiches. The waitress didn't come back for another 15 minutes. And she said, "Oh good, you got you food." Not one word about the pretzels. So, as she walked away, I stopped her and said, "Excuse me. But, you can just take the pretzels of our bill." No, I'm sorry" or anything like that. Just, OK... and she continued to walk away.
So far... the service here, it gets an F...
I still haven't talked about the food. I wish I had taken some pics.
Okay, let start with the size of my $15 meatball sub. First, it was on a tiny 5-inch French roll or at a normal sub shop it was smaller than a small sub. This tiny subroll consisted of 4 meatballs smaller than golf balls and tasteded like frozen Costco or BJs rubbery frozen meatballs. It was horrible... but because I had two glasses of wine, I ate it just because I needed food in my system.
My wife's "$17 French Dip" was just as bad.
Okay, per the menu. Their French Dip consists of RoastBeef, Carmelized Onions, Swiss Cheese, and Au Jus Dipping "Sauce" (hahaha, Au Jus, is a sauce now) on a French Baguette
What my wife received was what looked like about 5 slices of what looked like "Steakum" steak slices that had been boiled. Not a French Baguette, but on the same crappie small sub roll like mine.
Their Au Jus dipping sauce, It was not even a beef broth... My wife made me taste because she said, and I agreed with her after tasting it. "It tasted like dirty dish water." I don't know how else to describe it.. it was tasteless brown water...
The French fries on both plates were ice cold.
So, for our $100 lunch, the best part was the $48, 4 glasses of wine. Thank god for alcohol š·š·š·š·....
I seriously would normally give any place a second chance... Not this place...
As always... Dont take my opinion for the word of god. Go check it out yourself and draw your own conclusions. For this one, all I can say...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAwful awful awful experience at this restaurant. We went for a 30th birthday and we waited 3 hours and never even got seated. The hostess kept saying it would be another 15-20 minutes. We waited at the bar and the bartenders hardly came over to us which made it impossible to get a drink. I understand it was busy but you have to pay attention to your customers! After 2.5 hours the manager told us that we would be the next seated and a group of gentlemen came in and sat at the table where we were to be seated and they ordered drinks and food! When that group was asked to get up we asked a gentleman to politely move down and he came at the female who asked him to move. He actually came at her and got in her face. When a member of our party told him not to do that he got more agitated and a waiter asked the person in my party to leave which didnāt seem right at all. He did nothing but stop a drunk older man from coming at a female. Needless to say we left and he remained. Very disappointed at the way management handled this situation. I will say the manager did come out and try to speak to us. We did express how poorly the whole night was handled and he did apologize for how the restaurant handled everything, but it doesnāt take back 3 wasted hours. Would never go back here, nor would I suggest this place to anyone. Horrible handling of a situation and after 3 hours we left with nothing but a horrible taste for this restaurant. Had the manager/hostess said up front they had two other big parties and they may not be able to accommodate our big party at the beginning of the night I wouldnāt be this disappointed in the service. Overall extremely disappointed with the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe just got back from trying this place out and was pretty disappointed as we had been wanting to check it out for a while, and always seemed busy. Drinks- Dirty Shirley and the Green Tea Collins: just ok, was missing the garnish and looked pretty basic, had a bit of a weird aftertaste and like they were missing something. The seafood chowder was pretty decent although it seemed more like clam chowder than a mix. The crab cakes were under and definitely could have tasted better if cooked more. We each got an entree off the specials list which was swordfish, Parmesan risotto, and mixed veggie⦠so underwhelming. The swordfish was way over and dry. The risotto⦠was not risotto at all, more like overcooked white rice trying to pass as risotto, and zero Parmesan flavor. Menu said it had tomatoes in it, which I imagined would be cherry tomatoes or something⦠but it was basically chopped up already-sliced tomato they already had laying around for burgers. The āmixed veggieā was a few pieces of nearly raw sliced squash/zucchini and some giant hacked up pieces of red and green pepper. Minimal to zero seasoning anywhere on the dish!! We got a pizza to go also off the specials menu, which was fried chicken, red onion, and honey mustard baseā¦. Itās definitely tiny pieces of grilled chicken, not fried, and the pizza looks underdone as well. Doubt weād come back as it just totally fell short. Place has potential and looks nice, but just seemed like itās trying to be too many different things at once. Music was all over the place too, one minute an 80s jam, next minute sounded like a techno dance club. Doubt...
