Tower Automotive — Local services in Quincy

I was looking to get 4 new tires and pressure sensors (both of which I had purchased already) installed on my Toyota. Called around to many different places in the area to ask their pricing and the earliest time/day I could bring my car in. I spoke with Derek at Tower Automotive and he gave me the best price out of any place in the area. He even told me that I could bring it in the same afternoon. So after reading all of the reviews online I figured this shop was worth a try. Brought my car that afternoon with the tires and pressure sensors, and left it with them. They installed the sensors as well as mounted and balanced the tires. Unfortunately, I did not get a call that evening when the service was finished, but the next morning I called in and went back to pick up my car. The price was exactly what he told me on the phone the previous day.

After driving it for a week I did not notice any issues with the balance or sensors. I called to see if I could bring my car back in to have the wheel bolts re-torqued to ensure that there were no issues. Spoke with Jay on the phone who told me to swing on by. He took care of re-torquing my car right when I got there and I was on my way.

I've been to Tower a handful of times in the past ten years, or so, and my last two experiences weren't great. I was charged two hundred dollars for a hundred dollar key one time. Previously I don't even think they looked under my hood, and assumed it was a faulty key again- they were half right. My alternator was faulty, and had burn marks, and burned connectors attached to it which I replaced myself, and had a friend splice, because Tower didn't properly diagnose the issue. My car sat in their lot for about a week, and a half, and I got one call to let me know the locksmith wasn't available. This shop takes very good care of my vehicle, but more importantly my wife's. I'm very comfortable with cars and developed mechanical knowledge growing up in a family where we did our own repairs. My wife has other strengths, however, and with her limited understanding of mechanics, she's been scammed by other less scrupulous garages. These guys at Tower do good, honest work.
