Great food, excellent service, and a cute little restaurant is now one of the best ramen shops in Quincy!
I had seen Toppu pop up in my Instagram feed a couple of times and saw how lovely this new ramen shop looked and I knew we had to try it out. Well a visit from my wife’s brother was a perfect chance for us to check it out. And we were ecstatic with our experience.
First off the decor and the interior design are so well put together and very inviting. From the mural on the wall to the hanging paper lanterns to the small rock gardens, Toppu is a great little shop!
The food and service are top notch. Everything we ordered was delicious. The ramen noodles were the perfect balance of firm and chewy and the tonkutsu broth was rich and creamy and not too salty. The egg was cooked to perfection and the deep fried chicken for the Karaage Ramen was not greasy nor dried out. My brother-in-law got the Katsu Ramen and an appetizer of popcorn shrimp that were also both delicious. My wife ordered the Toppu Tonkutsu Ramen and we split an eel avocado roll and a King Dragon Roll for the table. Everything was served with a smile and our server made sure our tea and waters were always filled. We finished off the meal with a vanilla mochi and their green tea tiramisu, both of with were scrumptious.
I highly recommend Toppu to anyone who is looking for a reasonably priced and incredible ramen. I know this will be our go to place from now on. There were a few different bowls and rice dishes that we wanted to try out...
Read moreThere's a new Japanese restaurant that recently opened in Quincy, so we decided to give it a try. It wasn't too crowded when we arrived, so we were seated promptly and the service was fast. The restaurant offers both dine-in and take-out options, and it's quite clean with attractive Japanese-style decor.
The menu had a wide variety of choices including appetizers, ramen, sushi, and rice dishes. We started with the gyoza and sticky ribs, and for our main dishes, we opted for sushi rolls and omurice.
The appetizers were average. The gyoza was standard and the ribs were decent with a light tempura fry and a drizzle of teriyaki glaze. They were tasty but nothing extraordinary.
The omurice was disappointing as it didn't resemble traditional omurice. It was essentially scrambled eggs on top of rice and lacked flavor, though it improved slightly with the addition of soy sauce.
The sushi rolls were the highlight of our meal. They were fresh and well-prepared. We enjoyed the shrimp tempura maki and the salmon nigiri in particular.
Overall, this place is decent for sushi and perhaps a couple of appetizers. It's a good option for a quick meal, although being new, there's room for improvement in terms of the overall...
Read moreI really was walking into this place hoping for just half decent sushi and an ok appetizer and would have given a 5 star if that was the case but, what I received was a spicy salmon and spicy tuna roll that lacked in all areas, looked exactly the same, and seemed to just be a mashed together mix of the fish and tempura slapped onto the paper and rice and rolled as quickly as possible . The crab rangoons I ordered came out ice cold in the middle and had to be sent back. I believe in small businesses as you can clearly see from my other reviews; however, this place really needs to step it up and put far more effort into the food they are allowing to leave that kitchen. It’s really sad to say, that this would be my first one star review ever given, if it wasn’t for the fact that they redeemed themselves a little bit with a really good Thai iced green tea and friendly customer service. I would be open to coming back and editing my review if they end up reaching out to me after making some improvements, but until then I will not...
