We came here for my mothers birthday dinner, because she had come many times before and really liked it. She especially liked the scallops, but this time they were inedible - clearly frozen, small size and overcooked making them rubbery and tough, so we sent them back. I got ceviche which was super bitter, lacked citrus and had giant chunks of red onion. For entree I ordered cod and chickpeas which was also super overcooked and dry. My mother got the turbot (45$), they didn’t offer the caper sauce and they also overcooked the life out of the fish. We politely expressed our disappointment and they didn’t seem to care at all. When I went to pay (170$ for two apps/entrees/drinks) I was shocked to see that they didn’t even remove the scallops. The waitress then proceeded to tell me the minimum tip was 18% which I refused to pay and had to argue just to leave a 15$ tip! It was just really upsetting to have a special night out ruined by an overall careless attitude and not having a set standard for food quality and service. Also note that the live music will be extremely loud and you will need to yell to communicate.

Very good restaurant with delicious food and fast attentive service. All dishes were very good! We had a company of 8 so tried few things: skirt steak with home fries (excellent and perfectly made), fish ceviche (with original light mango sauce twist and sized as entree), whole roasted snapper stuffed with shrimp and octopus, grouper nuggets taken for appetizer got finished by kids rapidly so we ordered more:) , halibut fillet with vegetables (great taste, though fish was a bit dry. But that's the nature of halibut. Had to take grouper fillet instead), chicken soup (not a chicken-noodle soup, but a very complex and rich soup:) which my dad loved. Looks like they even have live music downstairs. Overall, the restaurant is highly recommended. Don't miss if you are in Luquillo area.

All the food was sooooo salty. Mofongo is suppose to have a sauce that comes with it. When I asked her for some she wanted to charge me extra for it. I made sure they didn’t. Showed her the restaurant menu to read what it said. So she brought it. Agua frescas Drinks where a size of 5 onces or so for $8/each. Not worth it. Was a water down lemonade. The rice and steak was in a mixture together with grease, was for sure not butter or a sauce or anything. super mega salty and sticky. Ate only the steak. Steak was super salty too. Tostones tasted like they were made 2 weeks ago. Hard as hell. One plate had a long black hair on it. Nasty. Server said she couldn’t do anything cuz no one had black hair. Me and fams got brown / blonde hair. lol pathetic.

It was a total of 5 in our party celebrating my daughter’s 20th birthday. We all ordered. My daughter ordered the ribeye because she absolutely loves steak. She told the server that she likes it medium well with a little bit of pink. All of our food came and she tried her steak and absolutely did not like it. She asked her brother to try it thinking it was maybe just her and he also said it wasn’t good and had a weird taste to it. We immediately called the server and he asked if she wanted something else and she advised him that she didn’t want anything else because she didn’t want to be disappointed again so she told him she would just eat her shrimp rice. We asked the waiter to go ahead and take the ribeye away and he refused saying they would just throw it in the trash which we thought was weird but didn’t think anything of it. Now keep in my all of our other food was delicious and did not disappoint including the drinks and service. Once the bill came I saw the ribeye was still on there so I asked them to take it off since she didn’t eat it. The server got the manager and I explained to her that my daughter (the birthday girl) didn’t like the ribeye so she didn’t eat it. The manager who refused to give me her name stated that their food is good so it’s not their fault if she didn’t like it but we still had to pay for it. I explained that what is good and normal to them may not be to us and talked about how we enjoyed all the other food but she loves steaks and usually gets one everywhere we go but she didn’t like this one. Once again the manager stated that it was not their problem and they weren’t taking it off the bill because their food is good. At this point, I was done trying to explain how unreasonable it was for them to expect us to pay for something we didn’t like and didn’t eat. If you choose to eat at this restaurant please be prepared to pay for food you may not like or enjoy. Keep in mind our entire bill was over $200 and I still left a tip because we did enjoy all the other food and service until the end. Very poor customer service...

We just moved to this area in Puerto Rico and a friend recommended us Don Pepe Restaurant. Regularly we visit next door Dos Panza, outstanding mexican restaurant. We were so disappointed: We visited that place last night. We came in and wait standing , and wait....and wait until finally the bartender invited us to sit down on a table under one a/c unit. My friend is vegan....and the waiter seems had no clue what it is to be vegan. After explained him what my friend wanted, the server seemed to understand. I ordered the soup of the day and a chillo fish filet with salsa criolla. The soup came fast but just warm and it was tasty but very salty. Then,we waited1 hour and 23 minutes for our orders to arrive.....after canceling the order because of the long wait, suddenly the food arrived. Again, tasting good but very salty...this time the food temoerature was good. However my friend got his Vegan Mofongo without the ordered salsa criolla....because of that Mofongo was good but dry.... a nightmare. We work in service and know how every single customer is very important. We'll Don Pepe Restaurant just lost 2 very good frequent customers and more because we can not recommend them after this awful visit...I even took my food home bause I lost my appetite. During almost 1 1/2 hour nobody came with an explanation on why it is taken so long to get our food...no.manager came to apologize or so....by the end the waiter offered an apology and explained that they had at the same time and group of 40 tourists and that the orders are served in the same order in what they were posted.....hard to believe... This place need to do better job training the servers....do not know about other workers. Waiters were clueless on how to handle the situation... We left with a very...

I was at the restaurant Sunday January 19/2020 4:30pm with my husband and parents. It was our first time and we have heard about the place and with good reviews. But in our case it wasn’t. Fist we asked the waitress what’s the house specialty’s. And she said fish, mofongo, etc. my husband ask if they had a meal for 4! And waitress said yes their is a meal of meat that included chicken, Sirloin steak, Chorizo, steak and another meat and included 2 sides! I ask her if it was enough for 4 (she said yes) we ordered fried plantains, fried sweet potatoes and additional mamposteao rice (rice and beans). When the food arrived it was plenty meats and very hot (hot tray) the plantains was 5 small one and you could see thru, the rice was for only one person and cold, cold, the sweet potatoes fries was a joke it was for a kid and I asked which kind and the waitress said the orange one we were served the yellow one and was hard not even hot or crunchy, that one usually is for baking or boiled. I have eaten sweet potatoes fries but this one was a shame. We had passion fruit Mojito for drinks, the waitress said it was very good and it was a mistake it was horrible it tasted water with lemon with a lot of green leafs in the glass (we ordered 3) I said to the waitress what kind of side dish is this and she smiled and kept going....
