Unethical business practices. Don't adopt any cats from this bias organization. You are better off getting a stray cat off the street than dealing with deceptive, cold-hearted, and very judgmental people like them. I have been a very good cat owner since 2008 and never abused any cat. I had cats that lived up to 18 years old. I can't let these weird people tarnished my good character. I recently adopted two adorable male cats. Unfortunately, they gave me a sick cat who ran out of the house. My father found him and returned home safely. Then adoption counselor Donna H. lied about my good character about how the cats were treated. She and Kristin requested the Astro be returned and taking their vet and blamed me for the cat being ill. However, adoption counselor planned staged scenario about to take Astro and Toffee away from me which without just cause making false accusations. The manager Kristin of Rahway Kitty Hall came by my home unwarranted kidnapped Toffee who was a healthy cat because they felt he was in a bad environment which is not true. The wacky founder Elaine of the Angel Paws of Colonia, NJ was ignorant and told me shut up and called me a liar and you're not getting Toffee back based your application that was false accusations being made by of the mean spirited adoption counselor Donna H.and the sneaky manager Kristin of Rahway Kitty Hall came up with lies and very judgmental against me. No real reason why they are wrongfully taking my cat Toffee. These three deceptive women have no proof that I am an unfit cat owner which is not right. Then why did people gave me approval to sign the adoption papers? Even the manager of Rahway Kitty Hall Kristin sent me pictures of other cats because of the sickly cat I was given to select another cat. She is a liar and schemes to get Toffee out of my house saying he needs his updated vaccinations from their doctor because of Astro unfortunate situation. However, Toffee had his updated vaccinations according to his adoption papers that I signed. So Donna and Kristin lied about taking Toffee to his Vet at Westfield Animal Hospital in Westfield, NJ. They pretty much kidnapped my Toffee without just cause. This is DECEPTION!! Astro was sick from the jump and ran out of the house. I am very educated and was not born yesterday and fully aware about their cunning and deceptive dirty ways. And, Kristin offered another cat because they knew Astro was sickly. They are ruthless people. Unprofessional and showing no class at all. I truly believe they wanted Toffee back to give to one of their friends. So please stay away from dishonest people!! The wacky founder Elaine of Angel Paws became rude and disrespectful and said we will gladly give a refund for both cats and go about your business. I didn't want a refund at all, they just wrote the check. False accusations about me were wrong. These people used me as a scapegoat to cover their issues at their shelters. God...
Read moreThis is certainly not a "cafe." There was a small, unkempt office in the front. There was barely enough room for the 2 of us visiting + the employee taking our paperwork. Let alone, the cat in the office, who apparently is available for adoption but was purportedly so "mean" that she couldn't be in the room with the other cats and we were advised to refrain from touching her unless we wanted to be scratched.
After completing all of the waivers and paying, we were taken into a small hall to hang up coats and remove our shoes. We were given the option to wear medical booties, instead of being sock-footed. Then we were walked into the cat room, where we were introduced 1 by 1 to each of the cats. This was fine, except, we paid for a finite amount of time to visit and it kind of took away from that time.
Also, the employee who was there was talking to us the whole time and persistently trying to get us to use the toys she wanted us to use to interact with the cats.
The cats were wonderful and sweet. I found myself bonding with one and attempted to adopt him. Although I am local to the shelter for weeks on end, they refused to adopt to me because I live out of state. I'm confused by the response, as their website gives no indication that they don't adopt to those out of state. Furthermore, the talkative employee indicated several times that they love people from my state and wish we would adopt more cats because we are such animal lovers.
The customer service aspect of the experience was rather dismal. And, it smelled horrible there. The cat litter seemed like it hadn't been cleaned in months.
The cats were great.
Honestly, though, you could go to a shelter for free and the only difference here is you have to take off your shoes to visit...
Read moreSuch a nice place! There were about 10 cats there when we went and the decor and set up is so cute. You have to take off your shoes when you go in which is nice since you eventually wind up sitting on the floor playing with the cats. There are a lot of toys for you to use and the staff gave us some treats to feed to the cats so they would all be by us. Everything was very clean and the owner was very friendly. You can tell she really cares about the cats! It's not actually a cafe as there aren't any drinks or snacks sold there, but there are lots of seats and a sofa to relax on. It's really smart that they take reservations so that the cats don't get overwhelmed with too many people in there at the same time. The only thing that would make it better would be if the litter boxes were somehow in another area or connected room, kinda like a kitty bathroom? They are all well hidden and cleaned frequently, but anyone who has a cat knows that when they go #2 it stinks up the whole room! If there was maybe a ventilation system or the litter boxes were separate from the seating area that would be great. Other than that, I think it's a...
