My husband and I stayed at the Watt Hotel, part of Hilton’s Tapestry Collection, and had a great experience. The train station is right across the street, which made getting around really easy. We loved the bar downstairs — it was the perfect spot to relax with a drink in the evening. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We’d definitely stay here again. @hilton #hotel #newjersey #rahway #train #vacations

The Watt Hotel surpassed all expectations. I spent over a week there as a guest-my initial reservation was for less days, and the staff easily and professionally accommodated my extended stay, in the same room, with no issues. My room was extremely comfortable and a good size-although most of my time was away from my room, in addition to the bed there was a big chair w an ottoman w a light to relax and read, and a good amount of clear table space w a comfortable rolling chair to attend to work. The hotel smelled GOOD. Clean and fresh in all the common spaces-including the elevator. I enjoyed the elevator signs that told me what day of the week it was- put a touch of whimsy in the day, and helped me a lot to keep track during a stressful time when my sleep schedule was out of whack. Every staff member I encountered was friendly and attentive. I had a bit of a time w the SmartControl cooling and heating- maintenance staff was up in minutes (I called the desk after 10pm), and explained the unit clearly and concisely. Housekeeping was outstanding-did NOT replace towels, linens, or part-used toiletries unless asked. And brought me "emergency" extra towels AT 3 AM in mere moments (it was a rough week). Front desk staff was truly exlempary. Ever present and aware, never intrusive. Would inquire-did you receive your towels? Is there anything we can take care of...? when they saw me in the lobby...amazingly hospitable. The complementary breakfast did not disappoint-and again-remarkable staff. I am sorry that I didn't learn the name of the wonderful woman that was fantastically on point w the breakfast-she is a treasure, honestly. I say w 100% certainty that I will stay at the Watt again, soon, even though I get that Hilton discount other places--because the staff at the Watt embraces what I love about hospitality. The hotel is beautiful (I would have liked more stairs-access, but that's my thing). It is impeccably clean, and cared for. I loved the quirky celebration of Tesla, Edison, Einstein, etc. as an interpretation of Rahway and that part of C Jersey-what a cool and innovative way to let ppl know it's not just the Dirty Jerz 💜. The clean lines and retro-mod decorations in conjunction w framed portraits and news photos, coupled w short quotes at each landing feels comfortable instead of deliberate-like you are in a home of an (well-off) enthusiast of history of place or science or both. It's giddy; makes one look forward to the room accommodations. The rooms are well appointed; but may appear sparse...bathroom has generous sink and counter space (two glasses), and a lighted magnifying mirror (I also needed direction to dim the lights on that). There is a generous sized bamboo-ish bench, and hooks and rods aplenty. Huge shower w great water pressure! Beware-the temp nozzle is sensitive-but the pressure sustained ice cold to burny buns. I never turned on the TV (no chance,alas)-but it was big, and had a really generous swivel. The bed was a little lumpy, TBH, but there was a good number of pillows, and extra pillow and blanket in the closet. The room had a big closet, a full chest of drawers, a nightstand w add'l drawers. There was a full length mirror in the bedroom (nice! No bathroom steam!) There was an iron and board in the closet, and a good number of hangers. The room had a Kuerig, and caf/decaf coffees as well as English Breakfast and an Herbal (decaf) tea-two paper cups and standard coffee condiments are provided. Two small bottles of Fiji water are offered near the ice bucket and cups-the Watt does let you know that the water is FOR PURCHASE and kindly informs you of filtered water options available elsewhere in the hotel. Parking is a bit confusing, sometimes, especially at first. And the garage adjacent to the hotel mentions a discount or a pass or a validation-but the hotel says no such thing. There are great restaurants, delis, stores, historical sites, parks etc. right within walking distance Overall-i recommend this outstanding gem of a hotel. It is amazingly convenient to transportation to...

As I write this review, it is almost 3 AM and I have been laying awake for hours desperately trying to get to sleep after a full day of work. Unfortunately this is impossible because it seems this hotel has forgotten to install insulation in any of the walls, ceilings, or anywhere else insulation is supposed to go.

So what is it like staying in room 228 at the Watt hotel by Hilton? Well, I can CLEARLY hear the couple in room 230 having a deeply complex argument while their baby screams along in unison. In fact I now know everything about this couple and their storied history, because from the comfort of my bed I can hear every word they are saying.

The only thing muffling the noises coming from the electrifying dispute in room 230 is the nonstop party happening on the opposite wall in 226...and the other party happening in room 220...and the mysterious symphony of dog barking that is so intense I don’t even know how it could be real. Am I at a rave or am I a live audience member at a taping of the jerry springer show? It’s getting harder to tell by the minute.

Listen, I get hearing the muffled noises of a tv, or every now and then some banging or unspecified commotion coming from an adjacent room, that’s normal, that’s what you sign up for when you stay in a hotel. But to be able to hear every word and syllable spoken, yelled, or screeched from a neighboring room while laying in bed in an agonizing attempt to get some much needed sleep - that is not normal and I am beginning to suspect that this is not a hotel, but an echo chamber dressed up as a hotel for Halloween.

I am not an unreasonable person. I’m a young professional, I travel for my job full time, and have experience staying in hotels all across the country. I can put up with a lot, and by nature I never complain. If I enjoy myself, I rave about it, and if I have a negative experience I just chalk it up to a life lesson and continue on my merry way. But this is insane to the point where I feel like it has become my civic duty to inform the public.

Maybe this situation could have been helped if the phone provided in the room didn’t give an empty dial tone when trying to reach the front desk to call for assistance.

And I might not be writing his review right now if after several unsuccessful attempts to call the front desk, and making the subsequent decision to get out of bed at 1:00 AM, and get dressed, and ride the elevator down to the front desk, I had actually encountered an employee that could offer even a modicum of assistance.

But no employees were present, and standing there alone in the lobby I was struck with the accompanying realization that I would not be sleeping until my pals in room 230 resolved their differences or the crew in 226 tuckered themselves out.

In my delirious frustration I am inclined to say that choosing to stay in a tent on the sidewalk in front of this hotel would have been a vastly more luxurious experience than my stay in 228. Is that extreme? Maybe. But I have to get up in 3 hours to catch a flight and I’m starting to lose perspective.

The bartender was friendly, and the gentleman working the front desk was very helpful. They get 5 stars. But this cardboard box branded Hilton gets one star. The vibrations of the bass from the party next-door that are rattling the headboard in my room at 3:00 AM are telling me to give this zero stars. But google frowns on zero star reviews. So they get one. Congratulations.

My neighbor in room 230 just slammed their toilet seat down and seems to be having trouble in the bathroom so maybe I’ll stop writing this review and go check on them. I’m not sleeping, so I may as well make myself useful.

Just please, for the love of god, if you are ever considering a visit to the Watt, make sure sleep isn’t on...

My experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing and not at all what I am used to in a Hilton property. First of all, the Hilton app claims there is no breakfast so my guest and I purchased $20 of breakfast foods upon arrival only to be told it will be included in the rate.. which is great but I wish I knew earlier. I am a manager at a coffee shop that has won multiple customer service awards and have been in various levels of management in the restaurant industry for years and I could not believe the standards in the breakfast room. The eggs were about 110 degrees which is within the danger zone for bacterial growth.. the staff should know food safety standards require hot food to be held at at least 140 degrees. Beyond that the coffee was very light. There were four cups of about an inch of coffee on the table, and I watched as other guests all poured their coffee, complained, and left it there. The next day the coffee was slightly darker but still was very light and heard two guests complain, which tells me that not only did this staff not know how to brew coffee, but it also tells me that they were not measuring their coffee grounds due to this inconsistency. The hot water was not nearly hot enough to extract tannins from tea leaves. When I walked into the room I was not greeted. There was a backroom with the door only cracked open and I went in Saturday morning and saw two employees on their phones and said "excuse me" and the boy just stared at me. I asked for more hot water and he said nothing and went back to his phone and the girl then got me more water and closed the door. The next day I left and said thanks to the same guy on his phone and he said nothing. There is two of them and one of them should be at least greeting guests. In my room black mold was growing in the caulking lining the shower faucet and I also cut my hand on a nail and the front desk had no bandaids. We went up to the hotel rooftop Saturday night and the whole thing smelled like marijuana. There was a large group having a party but it clearly was unregulated as I saw no staff members up there for four hours. I emailed something to the front desk to print per their suggestion, and the next day I was late to my conference because they claimed they never got it, and had me re-email them to the same address my file said it delivered to the night before. The water cooler in the lobby was empty every time I passed it over the span of 3 days. I expected to love this hotel as it was so cute but management is really slacking here. Awful experience! There are plenty of cheaper/comparably rated hotels in the area more worth your money! I originally booked at the Hilton Home2 Suites that weekend 15 minutes away.. definitely...
