Went to this theater to see Die Walkure performed by the New Jersey Opera Theater. What a wonderful night of beautiful voices, gorgeous music, fabulous costumes and exciting stories of bravery, love and heartbreak. The forbidden love of Siegmund and Sieglinde that ends in tragedy. Running away from Hunding her abusive husband. Fricka demanding that Wotan, the head of the gods punish them for their forbidden love. Wotan demanding that his favorite daughter Brunhilde, a warrior Princess, makes sure that the fight between Hunding and Siegmund ends with Siegmunds death. Brunhilde cannot do that and flees with Sieglinde after Wotan does the killing himself. Then…. the last act!! The ride of the Valkyries (Brunhilde’s eight sisters) so exciting. The Valkyries try to protect Brunhilde from Wotan… but his wraith cannot be stopped. Then, the most heart breaking finale..we all had tears in our eyes. So impressed with this beautiful theater and this outstanding company of Singers and musicians. Bravo to all for the hard work that went in to presenting this opera. Some of the finest singers in the tri-state area, wonderful musicians under the baton of Hugh Keelan. Make sure you get a sample of many of these fabulous singers in Opera Gems that takes scenes and arias from the most famous of all operas.. Saturday, September 21 7pm. Now as "UCPAC", they have Opera, live music shows from almost every genre, theater 🎭, all types of stuff, I think that they have something for almost everyone.. it also brings folks to Rahway who otherwise wouldn't have even known that were here. 😂 A few weeks ago, I was walking downtown and you couldn't get past the front of UCPAC... there were people outside dancing in the street... loud music playing... I totally forgot about where I was going lol..it...
Read moreI attended The Mahoning Roadshow here and it was a great venue. Very beautiful, friendly staff, and just an overall great experience. The seats were a bit uncomfortable but I think they keep them for historic purposes. It wasn't terrible, I'm just used to the fancy poofy recliners. Small concession area with snacks and drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic) and while it's certainly different from my regular theater, it's not in a bad way. I can see parking being a bit of a problem, but luckily I found a great spot close to the venue so I was all set. I'd definitely see...
