My experience at this restaurant was utterly disappointing and frustrating. We were a group of 8, and from the beginning, things went downhill. One of us ordered a simple fries dish, but they carelessly brought a more expensive version with meat.
To make matters worse, the sushi menu lacked prices, and the server had to repeatedly check with the kitchen, resulting in a chaotic and unprofessional atmosphere. One of our friends who opted for a non-sushi item had their dish served a whole 30 minutes earlier than the rest of us. Even for that order they had missed the salad and we reminded them to bring the salad!
When they finally brought the sushi dishes, they randomly placed them on the table without any regard for the order or the person who had ordered them. It was a guessing game to figure out which dish belonged to whom. When we asked for clarification on a particular dish, the server simply regurgitated what we had ordered and multiple time changed their opinion about what sushi is in our dishes! Definitely this place is not a good place for the Mexican sushi!
What struck me the most was the complete disregard for potential allergies. Had someone in our group been allergic to a certain ingredient in another person's dish, it could have been a disaster. The staff seemed unconcerned and oblivious to the potential dangers.
Even worse, they brought the wrong sushi dish for one of our group members, and their response was an insincere apology. No effort was made to rectify the mistake or make up for the inconvenience caused.
While I must admit that the quality of the food was decent, the whole experience was ruined by the disorganized and unprofessional service. The prices also felt inflated, especially considering the subpar service we received. There are plenty of other restaurants that offer great food and professional service without all the hassle and...
Read moreI went April 3rd at 6:30pm For a birthday party. I am Vegan and ordered the vegetarian fajitas with black beans instead of pinto beans and no cheese or sour cream. It comes out and there is pieces of chicken and steak in my fajitas and a piece of cheese in my tomatoes. So they took it back, but didn’t even apologize and they remade it and it came out looking fine and then a few bites in I find yet another piece of meat. I don’t understand How ordering a vegetarian fajita would come with meat and there was no apology from the server or anyone and I didn’t get it taken off the bill, but I also didn’t ask But I would’ve assumed naturally they would’ve taken it off. I filled up on just chips and guacamole, which was incredible. So if you are vegan or vegetarian, they do not Separate their vegetables from their meat. The location of Fayetteville Road has always done amazing and never messed up my order so I am very disappointed at this location. One of the people who was in my group, also ordered shots of tequila and there was no salt and no lime and then she ordered another drink which was a ranch water and it didn’t have any lime. Small details matter, especially when you’re serving tequila I expect to have a lime. It is also very important to take responsibility in mistakes. I highly recommend you changing your menu to say that you do not serve vegetarian options. So that people will know just to get chips and guac or chips and salsa. Will not be going back to...
Read moreI don’t give restaurant reviews lightly but this one made me really happy to write. I saw a commercial about this spot a few nights ago, then an IG page I follow featured it and I told my wife “we gotta check it out!” I’m glad I did. The carne asada fries were legit delicious. And Sushi at a Mexican restaurant is not something I’d thought would work but wow was I wrong. It is the best sushi we have had so far in the area and I have had sushi from coast to coast as we travel often. (The best sushi restaurants honestly being in FL but it’s a tourist destination so every restaurant is moderately good to amazing or you don’t last.) Here in the Triangle, I am constantly let down. But Carajillo’s renewed my faith in good food and a nice ambiance. Seriously, the La Niña and Bipolar sushi rolls are incredible and properly served. I wish other sushi spots in the area to take a little more time and do their sushi justice the way Carajillo’s does. Their display, the sauce layout, all of it. Perfection. For now, anytime we are in Raleigh, we are stopping in as I don’t see a need to try another “sushi gem” and get served a sad display of clumped together rolls that no one took the time to make look like an actual volcano. You guys rock and please send our thanks to the cooks who absolutely nailed it and gave this foodie and his wife a reason to be...
