Came on a Saturday afternoon with my fiancee for a quick hot dog lunch. My main complaint was the extremely slow service, took us around 40 minutes to get three hot dogs, a basket of fries, and a cheeseburger. Place absolutely operates like a fast casual establishment, a "quick and dirty" kind of restaurant. Put our orders in at counter, were told to sit and they would bring us the food, and proceeded to wait 20 minutes, noticing that other patrons that had ordered after us were getting similar orders before us. I had to get up and ask for status on the food 3x before finally being told "oh you're next" at the 40min mark, which told me they just had never started the food. Place was NOT busy, plenty of open tables, and not a constant line of people in and out the door. Extremely simple food, why does it take this long?

Food itself was fine, good cheeseburger, middle of the road hot dog, very good shoestring fries.

Likely would not return due to how disorganized/slow the service was. If I'm going to have an hour+ sit down meal, there are much better...

Extremely long wait times, I called my food in and was told it would be about 20 minutes. It was not until I walked through the door when my order was given to the cook so what was the point of calling ahead? As I sat and waited an additional 45 mins, my food was sitting on the back part of the grill overcooking while they focused on other customers. The cook or any other employee had on NO GLOVES/NO MASK while making food. When I finally got the food it was completely overcooked bread was hard as a rock, the meat was only halfway seasoned and disgusting. This place gets a lot of local business which is why you’ll see the positive ratings but I should have dug deeper before eating here. They should have two people cooking food to reduce wait times instead of overwhelming one person burning food and should also follow proper food handling and safety procedures. Overall a terrible experience THEY DONT FOLLOW HEALTH PROTOCOLS!!!!!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE...

Went after church and arrived about 1:35. Took our order immediately and we grabbed our drinks and a seat. Most of the tables were open but the bar was mostly full. I noticed a few folks who had arrived after us had been served, so at 2:05 I went back to the counter and asked if our “2 hotdogs, 1 sausage, and 1 order of large fries” would be ready soon, if not we were going to have to leave. Manager/Cook said they were coming up next.

I returned to my seat and to his credit, by 2:08 the small meal arrived at the table. I told the person who brought out the food I thought waiting over 30 min for what was basically 3 dogs and a large fry this late in the day seemed excessive. He apologized and said “... thats happens when we get busy”.

The food was tasty, but the wait, considering it was a Sunday afternoon and well after the lunch rush, was excessive.

If your time is limited I’d recommend looking for another place to grab a...

Hands down the best hotdog business in the Raleigh area. Anyone can make a hotdog, what sets Cloos'Coney island at the top is the little things. The hotdogs are real natural casing and are grilled. NOT BOILED! When you boil a hotdog, it becomes mushy. Grilled with the natural casing gives it a crisp feel. There are more than enough toppings. Having several napkins are a must. My favorite is the Rebel Dog. Comes with mustard, chili and slaw. (I add onions) The Chicago dog is a must try. I've been to Chicago and this makes me feel as I'm up North. Now, the bad thing about serving the best hotdogs. I've never tried anything else on the menu. I've seen the cook the sliders and the larger burgers, but never ordered them. They look amazing!

Ok so maybe you know I like Chicago dogs. I went to Cloos for a Chicago fix... To note, this is a "Detroit style" Chicago dog...I say that because of the natural casing - with that snap. (Chicago traditionally a "Vienna Sausage"). Nuance aside, Cloos is a CLASSIC dog shop. Watch the cook toss meats right onto the grill, front and center. I got a Chicago and a Coney. Both were on point, well packaged "to go" so no messy foil wrapper... The burgers looked good, I'll go for them next - bonus!! They sell beer!!

Maybe I let seeing the N&O hype them up so much get my expectations too high, but I wasn't impressed here. Atmosphere was top notch and the service was great, but I came for the dogs. All the toppings on the Chicago were solid, but the bun and dog were room temp. The same temp issues with the Dixie were also there. I did enjoy the slaw on the Dixie. Maybe an off day or something, but I left disappointed. I'll have to give it another shot.
