My partner and I arrived at 9:13PM last night. There were three workers, one loud young lady, a young man, and a very quiet young lady. The LYL was talking orders intermittently while also preparing orders. The young man was making orders. The QYL we didn't even see until we'd been there for a couple minutes, presumably she was mixing the peanut butter for a peanut butter parfait for a woman from what we could hear. There were three groups in front of us. While we were there, one groups order was taken and another group left after waiting five ish minutes. After another couple minutes, the group in front of us had their order taken. The woman who had ordered the PBP received a sorry excuse of one. The LYL served it to her after asking her how to make it. I worked at a DQ for five years from 15-20 years of age. The 'curl on the top' was something driven into us for any sundae that were could get it on, as well as the signature sundaes like the PBP. This PBP not only didn't have everything in all the layers, but it also had a horrible top ice cream layer, fudge drinking down the side of the cup, and no peanuts on top. The woman who was served it was understandably upset, and asked for a refund or a remake. Apparently there was no manager present to give a key turn on a refund. Normally that would be fine because it would be remade. However, instead of immediately remaking the item, LYL started making other orders. The young man eventually remade the item when he noticed the woman waiting and it was beautifully executed. The three of them continued making orders, who for, I don't know, since they weren't going to anyone in the store 50% of the time. At 9:25 (our order still hadn't been taken), the young man announced (rudely imo)to everyone in the lobby that they were closing at 9:30 and not everyone would be served because they had to close. As expected, everyone in line was less than pleased. We were willing to wait regardless because we had been there will before close. When I worked at a DQ (2006-2011 ish) However, at 9:27, the young man changed the ice cream bag. Again I've worked at DQ. If you've changed the bag recently, the best you'll get out of the machine for 10 minutes is ice milk. So my partner and I left. I don't know if anyone else got what they wanted, but we'll not...
Read moreI had been looking forward to the free ice cream event for weeks, and I can't express how disappointed I am with the rude treatment I receivedâespecially from who I assume was the store manager or owner.
When I reached the counter, I discovered that the dipped flavor I wanted was not available. It was unclear whether they had run out or simply werenât offering it, but when I asked for clarification, the managerâs responses were short, sharp, and rude. My two friends who were with me felt the same way.
There were no signs indicating that only Vanilla or vanilla and chocolate swirl/mix cones were available or that dipping would cost an extra dollar. When I mentioned that I hadnât seen this information advertised anywhere online, the manager sarcastically responded, âThe cone is free and youâre complaining about a dollar?â It was SO rude, unnecessary, and frankly, embarrassing.
As I continued asking basic questions, he accused me of âbacking up his lineââas if I was being unreasonable for simply wanting clarity. The only dipped flavors being offered were cherry and chocolate, neither of which I was particularly interested in. I politely asked if the cherry had a strong flavor since some cherry dips can be very intense while others are more subtle. Instead of a helpful response, he snapped, âItâs cherry, what do you think it tastes like?ââwhich didnât actually answer my question.
By that point, I was completely disgusted. Had I been alone, I would have left immediately. However, since my friends had traveled quite a distance from Durham, I stuck it out.
Unfortunately, I will never be patronizing this location again. The manager himself desperately needs customer service trainingâhe was patronizing, dismissive, and overtalked customers, as if answering simple questions was a burden.
I had looked forward to a fun, lighthearted experience to end my day on a good note. Instead, I left feeling frustrated and unwelcomeâfar from the joyous celebration with friends I...
Read moreVery disappointed. I have been coming to this location for years and this group of young kids have no respect and are rude. I went in tonight and ordered a small blizzard and when this young girl brought me my blizzard she just handed it to me. They have it posted all over the store and the tv adds about if it isn't served upside down then it's free. So after she handed it to me I looked at her and said wasn't it to be served upside down and she just looks at me with a cocky grin and says " it's to go so it don't matter" and then just walked away and went to the back. I was really shocked by this and makes me wonder why they even advertise that if its not served upside down then it's free. I have met the owner a couple times and he always comes up to talk to me when he is there. I can say now that I won't be going back because of this experience and the attitude this...
