When this mostly take-out restaurant first opened it was a much-needed improvement from the location's prior mostly take-out Chinese restaurant.
The beef in their beef & broccoli dish, for example, was clearly prime choice. As time went on, the portion of meat dwindled and I happily paid more for extra. While the sauce remains delicious, the quality of the beef steadily declined to curled up strips riddled with grizzle. We backed off for the better part of a year, and tonight the beef in the broccoli & beef had no grizzle, no taste and seemed to be some version of a processed imitation of beef. So disappointing!
We tried the Wonton soup again: the former high-sodium processed broth was now homemade-tasting and made more delicious by strips of fresh chicken, pork and lemongrass. But the wontons were still thick and tough, and not enjoyable.
Peace China would do best to return to the quality it proudly showcased in all of its entrees at...
Read moreRestaurant has a "fast food" / "cafeteria" vibe...hard uncomfortable chairs...stark walls, etc. The staff were nice enough although the order taker was brand new and had trouble getting the order right. Have the Kung Pao chicken which I ordered VERY SPICY. Although the entre was tasty, it had no spiciness to it...this is surprising since Kung Pao should be spicy to start with, and I ordered this even more spicy. Also got the Hot and Sour Soup...pretty good but don't eat the crispy noodles that come with it (I called them Chinese crackers)...they were commercially packaged, stale and were immediately soggy in the soup...nothing like those delicious sliced wonton wrappers that are flash fried - available in most good Chinese restaurants. The meal cost ~$11 which I think might be a bit expensive considering the average quality of the food. Probably an OK place to pick-up some quick take-out if you have no other...
Read moreWow! Peace China is a true hidden gem! The portions here are absolutely incredible - when they say generous servings, they mean it. My sweet and sour chicken could have easily fed two people, and I paid less than I would at other Chinese restaurants in the area.
The value for money is outstanding. Not only do you get these massive portions at reasonable prices, but the food quality doesn't suffer at all. Everything was fresh, piping hot, and bursting with flavor. The fried rice alone could be a meal itself!
I especially loved how they didn't skimp on the meat in the dishes - you get plenty of protein, not just filler. The leftovers made for an amazing lunch the next day. If you're looking for delicious Chinese food that won't break the bank and will keep you fed for days, Peace China is the place to go. A real bargain that doesn't compromise on...
