A lovely Rooftop with an intimate setting sitting on the 7th floor of Hyatt House in Seaboard station.
Girls night, birthday dinner, date night, etc. this is a cozy place to hangout.
Service:
I would like to highlight the fact that despite there only being one server, I noticed she was exceptional at her role and managing the floor. The amount of teamwork was truly displayed. I noticed how the staff helped one another and the server to make sure everyone was served in a timely manner
If you're seeking a bold drink - sunset murder mystery. (The name says it all)
The drinks are definitely made with the intent to sip them slowly while overlooking Raleigh.
I have yet to try the moment of grace. (I've had two visits and they have yet to have a moment of grace available.)
Shareable plates:
Last night we tried a couple things:
Fries with the bourbon ketchup. Seared tuna stacks Baked Ricotta NC Crab dip Chicken Ka Cobb salad wraps (my favorite)
Previous visit: Hot & Now Chicken
If you do not have a shellfish allergy, I recommend the crab dip as a sharable, the Ricotta tastes great (it has a sweeter side to it), between the two, Crab dip for me.
For the tuna stacks have great flavor, personally I would prefer either a little more tuna OR the stack being a little less thick to get an even ratio (just a personal preference)
The salad wraps were my favorite, figuring out how to eat the wraps without them falling apart or making a mess was a slight challenge for me. (My husband calls it a deconstructed salad lol)
Who doesn't love fries? An easy sharable or a light snack while drinking. The fries are the thin kind, nothing wrong with that I prefer my fries on the thicker side.
Hot & Now Chicken was okay, not my favorite. I feel like the chicken was dry / overcooked. The Krispy Kreme donut underneath was a nice representation of local Krispy Kreme.
I was told the menu will have some changes, on that note, I...
Read moreLately, there's been a lot of new places opening up that we've also been checking out. High Rail was one I learned about on social media.
I made 6:15pm reservations on a Saturday for pre birthday drinks for my boyfriend. It was the perfect time to go as it wasn't busy yet but there were already a few tables, by the time we left all the tables were taken and it was pretty busy.
As you go through the hotel lobby, there's a dedicated elevator that'll take you there to the 7th floor (only button there is besides 1). When you walk out, you'll be greeted by the hostess to seat you. You'll see the bar to the left side and tables all around and right side, there's also another small room with another bar too. The place is long and a bit narrow but there's enough room to get around (I'm comparing it to The Lenny that just opened in Durham which has a pretty similar look especially the bar area).
We got seated on a semi circle booth inside, facing out. I was hoping we'd get a table outside but there weren't that many, it was fine. Since dinner wasn't until 8pm, we got fries as a snack and ordered two rounds of drinks. I tried their special cocktails on the menu.
The only thing I will recommend for the atmosphere, is consider getting acoustic sound panels throughout the place. As it continued to get super busy, it got increasingly louder to the point different tables were unlikely able to hear each other at a decent volume, so everyone is just talking really loud with nothing to buffer the sound a bit. No disrespect to the place, but I left there with a raspy voice 😅
Overall, the place is nice and we'll be sure to come back for a date night, hopefully get a table outside.

Read moreThe location and building of High Rail in Raleigh are beautiful. My husband, our son, and I visited on Saturday, June 20, with a reservation for an outdoor table. Being up high with a view is always refreshing, especially after 8 p.m. during the summer.
The main terrace area overlooks a parking lot, but the smaller section in the corner offers a lovely view of the sunset. That area only has three tables and the rest is lounge seating, with a second bar that gives it a more intimate atmosphere.
The food was good and flavorful, though nothing particularly memorable or outstanding. We ordered a few appetizers to share — the NC crab dip, Hot'N Now chicken, and citrus shrimp. The crab dip stood out as the best: creamy, flavorful, and perfect for sharing.
We also tried three cocktails: the 24 Carrot Gold, Old Fashioned, and Black Revolver. The 24 Carrot Gold was our favorite — refreshing, balanced, and with a subtle spicy aftertaste that made it just right.
The only downside of our visit was the service. Our server seemed stressed, rarely smiled, and appeared to be not in a very good mood. Service during the meal was ok, but afterward, when we were finishing our cocktails, she briefly approached the table with a check in her hands — possibly ours — and asked if we were ready but we told her we weren’t. We didn’t see her again. About 20-25 minutes later, my husband had to go find her. When she handed him the check at the terrace bar, she walked away without taking his credit card. He ended up having to speak with the bartender to complete the payment.
Perhaps she was having a tough day or maybe they were understaffed. Unfortunately, it did impact the...
