Service is excruciatingly slow. I ordered a draft beer, one of their specialty burgers cooked medium, a side of fried pickles, and ranch for dipping. My partner ordered a cocktail drink with a specified liquor and pork nachos with the jalapenos on the side. After 25 minutes and watching several people walking from the dining room to the bar and returning with their drinks within 2 minutes, my beer arrived from another waitress. My partner decided to go looking for our waitress and the status of her drink. She finds our waitress and waitress says, they are out of the afore-mentioned specified liqueur. This is after 30 minutes from ordering the drink... My partner orders an alternate drink and receives it after 45 minutes from the initial order. The food is terrible. My partners "nachos" arrive after an hour from our order with literally NO queso cheese (included on the nachos). No jalapenos on the side. At this point, my partner just sent it back. But I was starving at this point and upon first inspection, the burger looked okay. Nope. Medium Burger temperature must translate to burnt/well well done and COLD. Fried pickles were cold and soggy with no side of Ranch. I figured I could speak with the waitress when she would come back by to make sure we were good. Nope, I watched her as she attended to other tables. I ate the burger because I was starving. It was worse than a burnt McDonalds burger and immediately regretted it. I had to literally chase down the waitress to get the tab after just being so frustrated at the experience. It's a shame. I used to love this place. But instead of being able to enjoy ourselves, this place ruined our evening. I would give 0 stars because 1 star...
Read moreThe takeout is usually decent. However, never sit at the bar. A couple of friends and I sat down at the bar tonight (Nov. 30th) only to be greeted with terrible customer service and just someone who seems inequipped to do their job. When we sat down, the bartender immediately greeted us with a condescending tone treating us like children as she assumed we were all underage. Granted we are younger. 26, 25 and 24 respectively, but we look our age. There were many collge kids in there looking barely 18 walking around with drinks in their hands. When we gave the bartender our IDs she took them into the back to show a manager, which was odd enough but I gave her the benefit of the doubt that she would figure it out. She ended up returning, refusing service to us with a completely condescending attitude. All 3 of us involved work in the service industry (one of which is a bartender), so I'm fully aware she can refuse service if she is unsure of a particular ID. But three fully valid NC IDs? Really? She didn't even asked for a second form of identification (We all had multiple forms of ID on our person). Regardless, this would have been fine, but her attitude to boot is why I'm writing this review. I would never treat a customer with that kind of snappy, condescending attitude. I have been to Sammy's multiple times for karaoke night in the past and have ordered their takeout fairly regularly over the past couple of years. However I will not be back. That kind of customer service is not how you retain...
Read moreBeen coming here for several months. Ellie, the main bartender, has been working at bars for a long time and is one of the best barkeeps I know in Raleigh. The new manager, Jessica, is delightful, as is hope and the 2 or 3 others I know.
It's been about a month or maybe 6 weeks since my last visit, and something is different. I still see friendly faces and a few of the regulars, but business seems unusually slow and the regular wait staff look tired.
I love and and bonded with so many regulars there being that Mission Valley has 3 of my favorite bars and several favorite restaurants, so I'm a little confused as to what's going on.
The food used to be first rate and made from scratch but it seems like most original food sources have been changed and maybe the meat needs to be tenderized or marinated.
Haven't had a burger lately but they used to grind their own meat. If that is no longer the case, then I will probably stop eating burgers there.
The buffalo bites are great, the hand cut shoestring fries are amazing (eat em while they're hot, y'all) and most of the food still has excellent flavor, but something is off about the texture. Maybe frozen instead of fresh or the previous distributor used higher quality meats. Even a quick run through an automated roller would tenderize the chicken more. Unsure about the beef.
Sorry about the novela, I just really live this place and am hoping they get their act together and serve fresher food soon.
Much love to the staff and I'll...
