StarBar Raleigh — Restaurant in Raleigh

This place should stick to being just a club because it is far from a restaurant...definitely not a soul food restaurant. I ordered a take out Jerk Chicken. The description said it came with 2 side. They were out of rice and peas at 5:00pm...they supposedly opened at noon and the place was dark and empty. I received 3 OLD "jerk" chicken wings. Not only cold but OLD...the meat was dried and hard. The white rice had white gravy on it and usually it's the gravy from the jerk or another dark gravy. The cabbage was dark brown with large soggy green beans and corn in it...that was also OLD. No way any of this food was cooked that same day. This was a Saturday and I'm guessing this food was leftovers from Wednesday that they pull out the fridge. When I got home and saw this mess given to me as food, I called and asked for the manager. She wasn't in yet so I left my number. An hour later someone from this bar called me back and hung up. I called back and the lady said she didn't know who called me and the manager wasn't in. I didn't hear back...

I visited Star Bar yesterday evening and noticed signage labeled Spice, indicating a possible rebranding. Despite not typically leaving reviews, I felt compelled to share my positive experience. Arriving just before 9 pm, we were warmly welcomed by a smiling host. Seated at the bar, our attentive server made our evening enjoyable. We ordered drinks, hookah, and dinner – the hookah was fantastic, and adjustments were promptly handled. The food, including shrimp, wings, Mac and cheese, cornbread, and yams, was exceptionally flavorful. Planning to return for more menu options, the early evening featured great music catering to everyone. Leaving around 11 pm, we observed a line of eager guests waiting to enter. For those seeking a serene atmosphere, delicious food, drinks, and good vibes, arriving around the time I did or earlier is recommended. First and last time. We went to hear live music, that part was fine. The space was overcrowded, it took about an hour to get our food. One friend ordered a margarita, it was horrible! How do you mess up a margarita? It tasted as if the bartender started to make a Long Island Iced Tea, realized the drink was supposed a margarita, so they put some margarita mix on top of the LIT. She tasted the drink told the server it didn't taste right and asked for something different, they still changed her for the horrible margarita. The food was pretty good, except for the cold canned greens. They overcharged my other friend, basically charging him twice for the same drink but calling it something else.
