The server ladies are nice. Whoever the manager was needs to go back to training and learn how to run a restaurant. We were a party of 26, we called ahead of time, they accommodated us. Now get to the service, 30 minutes before we got our drinks after being seated. 45 minutes before the people who ordered water got their water. It took 90 minutes for our food to come out. And we didn't have our silverware yet. No exaggeration. Orders are all over the place, they don't know who ordered what. No explanation of the appetizers. No coordination. Meat was tough, over cooked. We finished our drinks mind you that are $3 for a pint of soda. No refills throughout the duration of our time their. We weren't even asked. Empty plates stacked up, we had to ask to have them take them.
As far as middle eastern food goes, as a middle eastern, we never expect as good as home, but this was sub par at best.
When we stressed our concern ro the manager, he goes "we told you it would take time, i accommodated you" as if he was doing us a favor that we came in there to spend $1,000+ on food. I dont write reviews unless critical. This was ridiculous. I still tipped, we all did actually. But never again. So much potential, get someone with some restaurant experience to run the place.
Editing because I saw a response on a review below targeting mine: First and foremost, I was the one de-escalating the situation, I wasn't the one that got up and left. Secondly, I was the one that smiled and said thank you to the waitress on our way out, not the one who left. Again. As a restaurant and as a manager, you dont deescalate by talking rudely and making snark remarks. Thirdly, I was the one who called, you never once mentioned 45 minutes to an hour wait, you never once mentioned anything but a slight delay to be seated. Regardless, you also were not at capacity, so dont even start. There were 3 other tables, and if this is capacity, im sorry you need help. Again, maybe you should read the other reviews who are all saying the SAME THING, and properly respond, not respond to the my review under the wrong one. I'm not surprised. This place is miss managed, and its sad. And your response...
Read moreWe were looking for authentic middle eastern food while we were in the Sacramento area. (Our group was middle eastern and familiar with the food, from many different arab countries). We went in a couple hours before closing, restaurant was nearly empty but felt welcoming. We sat at the table for almost 20 minutes before anyone even came to ask us if we had been served. When we finally ordered, they were out of everything our party wanted (no beef or lamb kebobs or tikka sooo no mixed grill either). We decided to order the Araby wraps as it was late and a last resort. We tried both the beef and the chicken. The food took a SIGNIFICANT amount of time to arrive, despite being a nearly empty restaurant. In the meantime they brought us lentil soup which was tasty (albeit missing a lemon wedge that traditionally served alongside this dish in our house, so it was a little flat). Once the food arrived, we tried the wraps. It is not a joke to say the wrap was at least 40% raw chopped onion. If the meat had flavor you wouldn't know it over the raw onion flavor. And the chicken tasted straight up like hotdogs. We shared around our party and the opinion was consistent. Our wraps came with appetizer plates and half of the appetizers tasted from a can (metallic tasting), while the others were not bad. At one point there was a child belonging to another part that was being disruptive so we asked the waitress to assist in asking him to leave us alone, and she actually sighed and acted annoyed at our request. We soon left our plates (nearly a full table) uneaten, asked for the check ($90?) and left. Having tasted many versions of middle eastern cuisine, both home cooking and restaurants, I'm not sure this is authentic. But we would not be back. While it is possible their kebabs would have been better tasting, I believe everything on one's menu should be delicious for the one...
Read moreFirst let me say my meal was pleasantly above my expectation for a Friday night out. I have been in search of a good Middle Eastern restaurant for some time. And up and to the point of paying our bill I thought we found it. Ordered the Chicken Tikka Plate, came with Lentil soup, rice, pickled veges, plus another plate of four other side dishes and pita bread. That is the good part.
The bad part is the deceptive check out. A 15% SERVICE CHARGE was automatically charged to our bill. Normally I will always leave a gratuity if I have a good dinning experience. Had I known that the 15% service charge was already included I wouldn't have added to it. Didn't see any sign on the menu or anything posted at the front counter/lobby area. I only was on to it after asking for a receipt. After reviewing (see receipt below) I realized I had been taken. What I didn't do and you should do is ask for the bill first to review. The attendant will bring over the handheld credit card machine. Don't let her click the total, that was my error. I trusted her and gave her my credit card without checking the itemized bill. Ask to see the itemized bill. Remember whatever additional tip you give, you will be paying tip on the sales tax too. So I admit my error, a costly one of 37.3% ($18.26) don't let it be a costly one for you. The sad thing about this whole thing is they don't have to resort to these kind of tactics, the food is very good. I was already planing on coming in at least once a week. In the long run it's a bigger saving to me and I'm wiser for it. I will not return and the search continues for an HONEST MIDDLE...
