My sons took me yesterday for Mother's Day. The food I had was great, my drinks were awesome here, the margarita flight was the bomb. It's a bit loud in there but if you are in a party atmosphere mood it was great, I enjoyed the music and the music videos. They even have a TV playing music videos in the bathroom my son said.
The service was awesome. My only complaint is I know it was Mother's Day, so they're going to be busy and behind. We had to wait 50 minutes to be seated, even though we had a reservation. It was really hot outside and I loved that they came outside, and brought everyone ice water. I've never had any restaurant do that, when you're waiting outside in the heat. I thought that was wonderful.
When we were finally seated, we were told the kitchen was an hour behind and, we were going to have to wait an hour to eat. So of course we ordered some guacamole to go with our chips.
I was disappointed that my son and I ordered the Birria tacos. You only get three tacos and they're $22, and they come with no rice and beans. I was very disappointed in this because I think this is overpriced, for not getting rice and beans with your meal. In addition, we asked for pico de gallo and was charged for that. I've never been charged for pico de gallo at any Mexican restaurant, including the two restaurants that were in this space before they came. I have been coming there when it was Fonda Don Chong and the Whole Enchilada. So I will say it's very pricey in that instance.
With the exception of the things I was disappointed in such as no rice and beans with the tacos, which I thought was pricey, paying for pico de gallo which I thought was a little overdone, the food was extremely good, my appetizers were good, they're guacamole was the bomb, the drinks are incredible, and our server was friendly and checked on us regularly. I wished I remembered her name so I could mention her in here.
Try them out, I think you'll like it but be prepared to spend quite a...
Read moreKalavres is a hidden gem that offers a unique dining experience with a touch of education. In Greek, "kalavres" refers to the mixing of flavors to create a harmonious and delightful culinary experience, which perfectly encapsulates the essence of this restaurant.
During my visit to Kalavres, I indulged in the carne asada tacos, and I must say, the meat was incredibly tender and bursting with flavor. While I wished the taco shell had been a bit crisper, the overall taste was exceptional and left me satisfied.
To complement my meal, I opted for a lime Margarita, and I was pleasantly surprised by the light hint of lime that enhanced the drink's refreshing taste. It was a perfect pairing with my tacos and added a zesty touch to the dining experience.
One member of my party ordered a platitos of guacamole, which arrived with the pico de gallo and guacamole served separately. Being new to the restaurant, we were unaware that we were supposed to mix the two together. It would be beneficial for the servers to educate customers on this unique serving style to enhance their dining experience.
Once we combined the pico de gallo and guacamole, we were treated to one of the best guacamole dishes I have ever had. The flavors blended harmoniously, creating a rich and creamy texture that was simply irresistible.
Overall, my experience at Kalavres was a delightful journey of flavors and education. From the tender carne asada tacos to the flavorful guacamole, each dish showcased the restaurant's commitment to providing a memorable dining experience. I look forward to returning to Kalavres to explore more of their menu and indulge in their unique...
Read moreBeen wanting to go to this place and there's one down my street but I went to this location because it just so happened I was in the area and wanted my family to go with me. As I expected, there were so many photo ops here. It was so colorful, I loved it. There was so much to look at and it was their one year anniversary celebration that day. I didn't stay for that since my sister had her kids but I decided to take a tour through the back and there was a nice private room for parties and a bar area. It's loud and noisy here so if you don't mind that then you've been warned. They have music videos playing throughout the restaurant and had ladies coming around with shots and using noise makers when someone would take one. I loved all the areas where you can take pics, really nice backdrop with colors and flowers. The food and drinks were so delicious. Here's what I ordered:
Kali Burrito: I always love a plate or dish that has both seafood and meat so this was perfect for me, would definitely get this again
Kalaveras salad: another awesome dish that I would get, very simple with really good dressing. I loved all the ingredients
Lomo saltado: I didn't think I would like it because they used sweet potatoes, but this was really good. Not the typical version, they have their own spin to it.
Quesa Birria: this was highly recommended by the waiter and I could see why. It was so delicious
Chicken tenders: kids meal
Horchata colada: OMG I could have 5 of these, this was way too good
Oh and even the chips and salsa were good
I can't wait to go back, I'm going to check out their Sunday brunch buffet and I want to get their margarita...
