I was fasting for a routine blood draw this morning. When I was done with that, I was REALLY hungry. I had a hankerin' for a breakfast burrito. I thought, "Hmmmm... who has a good breakfast burrito around here?" I know that I like them at Farmer Boys, R Burger, and Gus Jr. but none of those places was convenient. I had been hearing the buzz about Pepe's "Finest Mexican Food since 1962" for awhile now. Someone even mentioned recently that they make a mean breakfast burrito. They were pretty much on the way to my next stop so I decided to go there.
I pulled into the parking lot and it was empty. "Hmmmm... was all the buzz overblown?" I went inside and scoped out the menu. I was debating between breakfast tacos and a breakfast burrito. I decided on a breakfast burrito with bacon. It was $10. Breakfast is served all day, by the way.
I sat down and waited for my order. I noticed that people started to trickle in. The next thing that I knew, the place was kind of busy. I guess I timed my arrival just right today.
My burrito arrived in less than 10 minutes. I cut it in half, snapped a photo, and dug in. It was filled with bacon, egg, potato, cheese, beans, and some sort of salsa. I wasn't too sure about the beans at first. My favorite breakfast burritos are beanless. I was pleasantly surprised though. The beans were pretty good. As a matter of fact, the entire burrito was pretty good. I would definitely order one again. My only complaint, if you could call it that, was that I wish there was just a little more bacon inside.
There were multiple salsas to choose from. I tried the green one and one of the red ones. I think the red one must have been the "hotter" red one. Both were good but I liked the red one better.
For my beverage, I filled my cup with about 2/3 Orange Bang! and about 1/3 Sprite. It went well with my burrito.
Overall, my first visit to Pepe's was a positive experience. I would definitely eat...
Read moreGo here all the time live in Rancho hard to find a good breakfast burrito place. But the last 3 time going here was very disappointing. Asked for no beans in the burrito got beans 2 twice so this Sunday went inside instead of drive thru let them know about the beans. While wanting on my order I noticed that almost every person handing food didn't have on a glove. The only one was the one making my burritos thank God. When they called my order I mentioned it to the girl asking if they ware gloves she looked at me like I was speaking a different language. And she said no we don't, at that point I said I'm a Chef (witch I am for 14 years) and every food worker that touches food is suppose to ware gloves that's basic 101 in training. Left to find that my 4 breakfast burritos had really know egg, a spot of potatoes. I guess i have to make them myself and won't spend $44.00 for under cooked bacon and a cheese burritos. I love breakfast burritos and normally drive to Pasadena where i grew up at to Lucky Boys on Wlanut to get my fix was excited when i got my first burrito here. They started out awesome but know they are falling short in food and cleanliness....
Read moreDate & Time: Sunday, June 8, around 12:00 PM I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the service I received during my visit today.
The waitress who took our order demonstrated a concerning lack of professionalism. She appeared unfamiliar with the restaurant’s own menu and was unable to understand the names of the dishes I clearly stated—not once, but three times. It wasn’t until my partner repeated the same dish names that she suddenly understood, which was both confusing and frustrating.
What troubled me most was the impression that she was deliberately dismissive of me, as though I was the one at fault. Her behavior bordered on condescending, and it made me feel embarrassed and disrespected in front of my dining companion. This is unacceptable for any establishment that values its customers and prides itself on quality service.
I hope this matter is taken seriously and addressed appropriately. No guest should be made to feel humiliated or ignored due to staff incompetence or lack of...
