Bobby Bay's Sandwich Shop (Manheim) — Restaurant in Rapho Township

I heard good things and wanted to try this place, so we went in to grab dinner. First issue, and I'm not really holding this against them, is there's barely any seating, its really a takeout place. We had planned on my wife meeting us there, instead we took the food home. There's no menu board, so you have to grab a printed menu.

The service was great - the person taking our order was personable, very willing to share his opinions when I asked what he suggested; and the food was done quicker than he estimated. Our order was complete and accurate.

The food - hmm.. mixed feeling. I had one of their subs and my wife had a cheesesteak hoagie. The filling in both was very good, the meats were higher end, sliced thin and proportions were better than average. I typically don't get oil on a sub, as I prefer mayo; but I decided to try it the normal way the first time. I'm not sure if it was the oil or the arugula that came on my sub but it had a sour taste - not like it was bad/spoiled, just sour. When I removed the arugula, the sour taste was gone but that could've been that the olive oil was sticking mostly to the arugula. Again, this is personal preference and I'm not holding it against them in my review.

What was disappointing was the roll - on the menu it says "house made bread", which had my hopes up for a good traditional style roll. What I got was a typical roll you'll get at most pizza joints around here - and it was NOT fresh.

The loaded fries were very good - and would even be better had they been fresh in the store instead of making the 15-20 minute drive home.

I will probably order from them again, but I'll probably ask for some mods to my sandwich...

We ordered 5 cheesesteaks for my son's birthday party. 3 of them were not what we originally ordered. When my husband brought them home, I called right away and shared that we did not order 2 chicken cheesesteaks (regular, customized cheesesteaks instead.) The kid that answered the phone mentioned that they can provide a refund or redo the order. We decided on refund since we didn't want to delay the party any longer and have my husband drive back there again. She provided the owner's phone number to explain the situation and receive the refund. My husband called a few times, left a voicemail, and to this day has not received a call back. He also called the Manheim location, hoping to speak to someone that can help, no one picks up. A very unprofessional way to handle business. During my recent visit to Bobby Bays Sandwich Shop in Mount Joy, I ordered their chicken cheesesteak along with a side of fresh-cut fries — and I was not disappointed! The chicken was tender and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the melted cheese, & spicy mayo, all tucked inside a soft, fresh roll. The fresh-cut fries were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned just right — a great classic pairing with the sandwich.

The atmosphere was inviting, but I’d give it four stars mainly due to the limited indoor seating. It’s a cozy space, ideal for a quick bite, but it could get crowded during peak times. Overall, Bobby Bays delivers quality food that’s clearly made with care, and I’ll definitely be back to try more...
