Flemington Deli — Restaurant in Raritan Township

DO NOT EAT HERE Soooo, yesterday at about 0730am My coworkers and I bought breakfast from Deli Works. We bought various breakfast items however, items of complaint were their oatmeal.

My coworker bought an ordinary oatmeal where as I bought mine topped with cinnamon. To speed the story along we get to work and I begun to eat my oatmeal. Being that mine was topped with cinnamon at first look I didn’t see anything wrong. Moments later my coworker yells to me, “HEY DO NOT EAT THE OATMEAL I FOUND BUGS IN MINE!!!” that’s when I looked into my bowl and saw what appeared to be little dark insects scattered throughout my food. I felt sick immediately and rushed to the bathroom. (Pictures are attached)

We then returned to the establishment and to not disturb any guest that were present and to avoid to cause a scene asked to speak to the cook in private and explain our situation. Before I was able to utter a word he stated don’t worry I’ll get you a refund. I said but wait, I want to speak to you about this incident. I want to make sure you understand what was going on. He then took his time to listen as I explained to him and gave him my coworkers bowl to examine. He then took it from me and would not return it. He then became rude and handed me $2.00 and stated that the insects were not from his store. Anyways... we still had my bowl which photos are attached to this post for all to see. We tried to handle this incident as civil as possible but was forced to call the Health Department. Hopefully, now they’ll take responsibility for...

So, I am going to respond to the last 2 reviews done by Erica and ruth because their reviews are bogus and they only wrote those bad reviews because of a falling out with Jose, the owner.

Anyone who is a regular at deliworks knows who I am. I have been around for 15 years!!! I've known jose since the beginning of deliworks. Yes, he can be crazy and ruDE at times, but he is not some sex crazed, drug abusing Mexican as the above commenters made him out to be. He is actually a really good man with a big heart.

As for the comments about the deli, most comments are also inaccurate. We DO use boars head and some Thumans meats and cheeses. We DO NOT use the cheap crap. Our sandwiches are the bomb! You will not get a sandwich as big or as tasty anowhere else! We DO wash our hands. Constantly. Especially me. We do NOT use food that has dropped in the floor, EVER! I would never allow that to happen on my watch. Yes, the building looks like crap, but that is because our landlord is unwilling to fix the place up. That has nothing going to do with us. It is not our building or our responsibility to make those repairs. So if someone has an issue with the buildings appearance, they need to get ahold of our landlord.

Overall, I would rate this business with 5 stars. The food is amazing, the sandwiches are HUGE, and you will not find another deli as good as ours anywhere close to here. I guarantee that. So of you want to try some of the best sandwiches around, stop right on in! We would be happy...

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Awesome burgers, breakfast sandwiches and the smoked brisket is insanely delicious with fresh mozzarella and home roasted peppers.
