My mom, my sister, and I met here for lunch, we arrived a little after 12. There was no one in the place except us and a driver picking up an order for a food delivery service. The waitress was polite at first, taking our drink orders, but when my sister asked about the special of the day (it was on a display board when you first walk in the entrance) the waitress seemed flustered. She gave a very confusing and vague answer that my sister and I assumed meant that the answer to her question was "yes, the special does come with coconut shrimp and the dragon roll. Both for $17.99". It was at this point I personally made the assumption that the waitress maybe new, or that she did not have the opportunity yet today to learn the special. My Mom at one point asked if they had straws (some places don't in CA so no big deal if they didn't) but the waitress came back and threw the straw at my mom (YES, threw it at her). Now I am thinking to myself, "whoa this waitress must not be new, she must be having a really bad day". Our drinks were left empty (keep in mind we are the only people in the facility, besides two women who are a few booths behind us) for much too long. As the waitress came by I asked her to please refill them. She took our glasses and then ended up taking an order on the phone with our drinks just sitting on the counter, then after all the time she spent on the phone she brings them back...not a single one with any ice in it. If I am paying $20+ for lunch, I'd like ice in my tea please. But then here is where it all goes very south, the waitress later brings the check, one check. As she starts to walk away I say "Excuse me" so I can ask her to split the bill for us. She keeps walking away but then when she gets behind the counter she turns and says "yeah?"...so from across the room (since she yelled across the room) I say "could you please split the bill for us?", she comes back over to the table and says "Like....how?" …. There's 3 women sitting at the table ?? "3 ways please" to which she replies "well who got what" … annoying yes, but we go over it with her "I got a special, my sister got the special, and my mom got this roll" (Not that hard right?). I paid cash and my sister and mom paid with debit cards. I had to get back to work as I only have a one hour lunch, but as I am leaving I see the waitress with a notepad and holding my sisters bank card. With the HUGE chip the waitress had on her shoulder about her job in customer service along with the fact that she's holding pen and paper while running my sisters bank card, my sister didn't take any chances and got that card canceled and got a new one. Overall the 3 stars is JUST for the food, which was delicious. BUT I would NEVER return here again for lunch. With all the other amazing reviews I would highly suggest going during dinner and hope you don't get the waitress with the bright...
Read moreTypically, my husband and I like to always give the benefit of doubt and be patient with the service industry. However, our experience with CoCos deserves a review. Firstly, we completed our pick up order at 6:50pm and were told it would be ready in 30 minutes. My husband showed up after 30 minutes and made our son his bowl from the grill to go while waiting for our sushi order. They said it would be done in just a couple minutes. Then a gentleman comes back and says no it’ll be ready at 8:30. That’s over an hour difference. We would be much less bothered had it been a really busy night but only THREE tables were being occupied. One larger group and two couples. 8:30 approached and the sushi still wasn’t ready (and at this point the tasteless and dry bowl from the grill is cold). When my husband asked if it was ready yet he got another “just a couple more minutes”. I’m sure most can imagine the frustration already at this point. Mind you, I’ve even left quite a few more frustrating details out to try my best to shorten the story. When he got home and we started eating the sushi 🤢 Some of it was mediocre at best, but some of it tasted ‘off’ if you will. Like old, we aren’t expecting fresh caught fish but for the price of the rolls it should’ve been decent. On top of that, we found plastic INSIDE a piece of one of the rolls. I’ve never had gas station sushi but I’m feeling like I trust it more than CoCos. $130 later and I’m telling you SAVE YOUR...
Read moreThe food was fine, that wasn't the issue. Shortly before leaving I left my phone in the restroom stall. Noticed immediately when I got back to the table and went back to find the stall already had a person in it (the ONLY person to go into the restroom after I left, because our table was closest to the doors to the restrooms).
When he left my phone was in the stall with the case missing. I followed him to his table and asked for my case back and he started sputtering and trying to form a sentence. Two people at his table rolled their eyes at him and said "just give the guy his phone case", obviously used to thefts out of him.
The guy started using loud denial, a waitress/manager came over and had the problem explained to her, and she told ME I was going to have to leave. Even AFTER this guy's friends told her "no ma'am, we're pretty sure he has the case" the lady proceeded to tell me "this man is a regular. If you don't leave now I'll have to call the police because you're causing a public disturbance" (bear in mind that I'm the only one in this altercation that HASN'T yelled or cussed).
So there you have it. The management was happy to defend a theif because he spends lots of money there. In my opinion, that's the only thing you need to know about this place. Eat ANYWHERE...
