Wish I could say my experience was anything close to most everyone else's. Brand new to the area, my son picked out the restaurant for our mommy son date as he had his heart set on seafood and they offer many other options for myself. We went in just minutes after 4 pm, were seated on the patio with a lunch special menu and dinner menus and were not checked on again for over 15 minutes. By the time I flagged down a waiter, they realized it was after 4 pm and took our lunch menus away. My son inquired about simplifying a $45 seafood burrito, he actually wanted 2 of the 3 main fish withheld from his, which they were more than willing to do, but they refused to adjust the price whatsoever. He opted for another meal instead. I requested to please be allowed to order from the kids menu for a more appropriate portion and option for me, and embarrassingly explained how sick I have been the last 2 years through cancer, pregnancy, and multiple procedures and that I truly needed smaller portions, which is why the lunch menu had appealed to me. I was told no, that I would be charged for the full price ($35+ when the lunch specials were $10 and a kids meal was $11). I literally could not bring myself (nor could I really afford to) spend $30+ on a meal that would mostly be wasted. The waiter only attempted to tell me how else I should order off the menu, suggesting I just share with my son (I cant eat seafood) or order an appetizer. (Also $30+). I was so embarrassed and choking back tears at this point I said I would be fine with just water. No efforts were made in the slightest. I sat with nothing while my son ate alone, to the point he wanted to take it to go. It was my last mommy son date with him before he leaves for 6 months and I don't see him again until almost the new year. 20+ years in customer service, including the restaurant industry and I would have never. It's a Tuesday, wasn't very busy, the patio was nearly empty with only the bar full. They just didn't seem to care. I'm getting used to being embarrassed in public because of what I can and cannot eat, but this one...
Read moreHate to do this, but I believe in honesty. My husband and I had previously gone to Madalines all the time, even getting take out during the pandemic. We went a couple weeks ago with our toddler and it was completely different. I had to ask 4 times (literally, no exaggeration) to get a booster chair and some napkins. (Anyone with kids knows a few extra napkins are necessary). Asked the person seating us, our waiter twice and a bus boy once. I finally got up and grabbed napkins from the bar and our daughter sat on our lap to eat. The kids plate came and was super hot, I asked for an additional plate to cut apart her food on etc. I got a visibly dirty plate. The waiter never came back around so I brought the plate to the bar and they told me they would bring me another. This never happened. We ended up using the basket the chips came in, and putting the chips on the table. The waiter was pretty much non-existent, aside from taking our order and bringing our check. Saw him chatting it up with other tables though. Quite possibly the worst service I’ve ever had. The quality of the food has gone down. Not sure what happened but I always get the taco salad, and this time it tasted like it came from Taco Bell. My husband got the fajitas and there was absolutely no flavor/seasoning to the meat. This is a huge change from the past. Now, I know everyone is understaffed, underpaid etc. but this was 5pm on a weekday and there were very few other customers present. My child was very well behaved and we genuinely tried not to be a hassle, but the few requests we made didn’t seem to be unreasonable. I’m sorry Madaline’s. We used to be tried and true customers, but after this one, we will take our...
Read moreMy wife and I just dined at Madaline’s for our first time to celebrate our 23rd anniversary. What a great restaurant! The food, service and our overall experience was fantastic. My wife ordered the garlic shrimp and I chose the surf and turf. Both dishes were prepared perfectly. My 10 oz. flat iron steak was cooked exactly as I requested (not under or over done) and was tender and flavorful, as were the coconut shrimp too. The dipping sauce that came with my shrimp was phenomenal. My wife loved her garlic shrimp as well. Both meals came with some very flavorful mixed vegetables, and we both chose a baked potato. They brought out a separate plate with cheese, chives, bacon, sour cream, and tons of butter. So you can dress up your potato to your liking. Before all of this great food hit our table we ordered their crab, jalapeño and artichoke dip appetizer. This dip was hands down the best I have ever had at a restaurant. And the toasted bread that complements it was excellent. As for the amount, we got to take over half of it home for later. I have never had such a generous portion of dip at a restaurant before. Plus we got an extra order of that fantastic bread to take home for round two! After all this wonderful, delicious food we had to try their fried ice cream for dessert. We were not disappointed! The large helping of ice cream was surrounded by strawberry sauce and a chocolate drizzle. From our first bite to our last, we were thoroughly pleased with it all. I highly recommend you stop reading this review right now and go to Madaline’s for some fabulous...
