Capriotti's Sandwich Shop — Restaurant in Reno

I'm hoping to write a GOOD review soon, but this isn't it. I seem to have very little luck with delivery food.

Prior to this, only two of my three salads showed up with a delivery order from Capriotti's on Plumb Lane, so this time I switched to their Kietzke location. Ordered from their website and added special instructions to each one of three sandwiches for them to "TOAST THE BREAD VERY WELL...MAYBE DOUBLE TOASTED?" Tried calling them several times after I placed the order to make sure they'd see my notes, but they weren't answering their phone.

All the food I ordered arrived this time. (Yay!) The salads were good. The two small (5") sandwiches had the right ingredients, but NONE of the bread had been toasted on any of the sandwiches. (Someone told me they automatically toast bread on chicken sandwiches, but these weren't chicken.) The third sandwich, the big (18"), expensive ($22), and usually delicious cheesesteak sandwich was a disaster. Far from delicious like ones I'd had at Plumb Lane, this one had plenty of meat and some grilled onions and red peppers, but there were no mushrooms, and I could find almost no cheese at all. Without cheese, the sandwich was horribly dry. On top of that, at each end of the sandwich, there was 2" of nothing but white (untoasted) bread with no filling at all! At least the ends had a little bit of that cheese I'd been trying to find!

I was excited to bring my husband here since he had never been. The sandwiches were good and the classic Italian didn’t disappoint, but, sadly, the staff was quite rude and indifferent towards us as customers. We weren’t sure the tables had been cleaned off because the chairs were pushed away so we asked and a lady slowly walked out from behind the counter and disinterestedly wiped the tables. We had to ask for napkins and straws too. The person who took our order was nice but forgot my husband’s request for peppers on the side and when I went to the counter to ask for them the cook stated that he does not put peppers on the side, only on the sandwich or not. I replied that it was requested when we ordered and the person who took our order said ok. So the cook said “he will chop the peppers for you, he is working on that right now,” even though there was no one else in the shop and the cook was doing nothing else. The order person chopped the peppers and put them in a small container and handed them to the cook and the cook handed them to me and I said “ thank you very much.” He didn’t answer me at all. No “your welcome” or “sorry”, nothing. We ordered three sandwiches and with drinks and chips our order was $40, which is not cheap for 3 sandwiches. If I could give a zero I would! Terrible customer service! I called in an order for 3 large cheesesteaks with mushrooms, extra provolone & peppers & onions on the side at 3pm. I was told on the phone I’m not busy so I can do it now. I walked in and was the only one in the store. I was told that they couldn’t make the cheesesteaks until I arrived because they didn’t want to waste the meat if I didn’t show up. I then found out from another employee that they did make our sandwiches but made them the wrong way. I ended up with peppers & onions in the sandwich’s, twice. I called in to complain about the wrong sandwiches & was basically told tough luck as there’s cross contamination with other sandwiches being made but yet I was the only there. The employee then said well if you want me to I can just clean the whole grill for you with major attitude .. but I can’t control peppers and onions flying in, as they fly across the grill. Also makes me wonder they do clean the grill and the utensils. Maybe the health department needs to make a visit. I will NEVER be back! Don’t waste your money! I did decline his offer to remake our sandwiches because he said he couldn’t guarantee as there would be no further cross contamination but yet it was stated, as cross contamination happens.
