I had the worst experience eating out ever. The waiter, despite friendly, got our orders wrong. We ordered a quesadilla to share, as a starter, as well as guac to have with the chips which were at the table upon arrival. However, the quesadilla came after our entrees. I clearly had stated I wanted to have it as a starter. To our surprise, extra chips never came. They never replaced our empty chip basket nor brought us chips when we asked. And we asked at least 3 times. This is far from my experience in previous mexican restaurants. Sounds like they may have a 1 chip basket per table policy because we never saw chips again. We love our chips, not sorry to say. The chips were also very flimsy and broke when you dipped it into the guac, unbelievable that they couldn't even get the chips right. Our entree was enchiladas. Overall the food came quickly but it looked like it had been reheated. There was no flavour to it either. Worst meal I ever had. And I love my Mexican and eat out at various places. Ah yeah! We also got a serving of "fresh" (so, the waiter said) pico de Gallo and green salsa. However we had no chips...why would they bring us that without any chips or us requesting it, made no sense at all. If you are looking for nice mexican food, I recommend going to Miguel's at the Summit, it's not far from this area and much better taste and customer service. At the end, the waiter gave us a "free" beer which we declined. We only wanted a nice meal and an attentive waiter. A beer would not make our terrible experience any better. Never...
Read moreI don't like to revert to leaving reviews like this but I'm rarely in your part of town as much as I used to be.
This is the second time, in a row, that I've been let down by what's ordered. The first was a little over a month ago when I ordered the cheese dip with FRESH jalapeños, as shown on the menu, and pickled ones were in the cheese dip.
When I placed my order tonight, I specifically said to the hostess, "no sour cream whatsoever." I don't like it even if it's in a side package. When the order arrived, I didn't open it because I had entrusted the hostess, 'Night H.', to make sure my order was placed the way I had ordered. As you can see from the enclosed photos, I still tipped close to $3 without having seen anything.
I left the event I was at, trivia night next door at Beer NV, and came home for a snack. Low and behold, there's sour cream. I don't have expectations when ordering from places as that creates disappointment when orders aren't met but I can safely say that tonight, I was incredibly disappointed when opening the container with the guacamole. Call me a 'male Karen' or a 'Chad' but when an order is placed, with specific instruction and it's not met, this is not on me.
Your food is consistently delicious which explains three stars but I will not be spending my money with you or wearing the zip-up New Era hoodie I purchased from you a year and a half ago, for quite some time.
Thanks for making it this far...
Read moreI'll start by saying I am not a picky eater. I'm the kind of guy who will eat anything and usually not complain about the taste of something, but the food at Los Compadres was worth writing about. I've also eaten at countless Mexican restaurants around the country so I'm familiar with Mexican cuisine
The bad: Ordered Queso dip, and I think it was just melted cheese. It looked greasy and it did not taste like any other authentic queso I've had before. The corn chips they served tasted like large Fritos, definitely not made fresh. My partner and I both ordered our meals. I ordered a shrimp fajita burrito, which were supposedly grilled. It seemed like they just don't season anything here. The shrimp and veggies tasted like they were steamed instead of grilled, and everything was pretty bland.
I feel Mexican food needs to have some spice and some kick. It needs a little sass and it just wasn't there on any of this. Even the rice was missing flavor. The same was true for my partner's dish so I don't think it's just me. Everything seemed really dumbed down for Mexican food.
Bottom Line - For the price (this isn't very cheap) and the other restaurants in the area, there are better options. Maybe it was an off night, but given that nothing about the meal was good I'm not sure. I'd rather drive 30 minutes to Carson City to our favorite Mexican restaurant which costs less and isn't as crowded...
