Preface: I love pizza, and I've honestly not had very good experiences with brick oven pizza in the past.
The missus and I had a pizza craving during a trip into reno. She was craving a brick oven pizza so after a quick search of the googles we settles on this place. We arrived a little after 1pm, so it wasn't very busy and we were seated right away. Unfortunately, the chair and table we sat at had a pretty bad wobble forcing me to rest my weight on the leg to stabalize it. But that is the only negative I have.
I ordered their special (don't recall the name exactly), and the wife ordered a 2 topping pizza. And we settled on the Garlic Shrimp appetizer. The shrimp came with some cooked crust cut into wedges like breadsticks and I could of just eaten those wedges all day. It had just enough crisp on the outside with that fresh softness inside. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, and the garlic butter was on point.
Next, pizza... I love pizza if I haven't mentioned this yet. And this could very well have been my best pizza to date. I was worried as oven fired pizza tends to be thin and I love a good crust. The sauce had a sweetness to it that went perfectly with the savory cheese and the crust. The special had a lot of different meat toppings all cooked perfectly and seasoned so well. I ate the whole pizza, no amount of willpower would allow for leftovers.
Lastly, but not in the last bit any less than awesome was the young lady who was our server. Never once did she not have a warm smile on her face. She was polite, kept tabs on our needs without feeling like she was interrupting or meal and helped me find the right pizza as I wasn't sure what I wanted.
All in all it was a bit pricey for a everyday kinda thing, but don't pass this up. It's worth the...
Read moreI can't recommend this place at all. Very disappointed with my experience. I went in on a Friday afternoon. I knew going into it that it would be busy no problem totally understand. My family was sat down after a little wait. The hostess was very friendly and then we met our waiter..... I am not sure of his name but he was terrible. Every time we asked for something I felt like I was troubling him. This was my first time here and when we came to order we thought we were only going to get one pizza for the table. The waiter stated the pizza's are small and are only meant for 2 people. So in a rush I tried to order a second pizza off the menu. The waiter looked upset and just stared at me making it pretty uncomfortable. We got the order in and they brought out the pizza. Mine personally tasted good but I did notice the crust was pretty black not sure if that's the style but I know the others with me did not like it because the way the crust was done. Toward the end of the meal my water cup had been empty for a bit so the waiter came up and asked if we needed anything I said yeah can I get more water pretty simple request. The guy came back with the pitcher of room temp water filled my glass to the top and slammed the cup down which made water spill out he then quickly walked away. I was stunned I have never had service like this and it ruined the whole experience. The whole time I felt the waiter was pissed off not sure if he was having a bad day but you don't treat your...
Read moreMy husband treated me to a night off from cooking, so I was excited to go out for pizza. We ordered the "Purple Rain" pizza with chicken in place of sausage for $17. When the pizza arrived it looked fine & we were both starving after a long day at work. We began eating the pizza and noticed it was soggy. Our server was no where to be found so we each ate another piece noticing although the edges were crisp and even had black specks (on the verge of burning) the entire center was soggy. When I complained to our service she told me: "You need to order it EXTRA-crispy next time." This is disturbing on a couple of different levels 1. So, she placed the blame on the soggy pizza on me for not ordering it correctly?! 2. She is nonplussed that the pizza was soggy in the first place - assuming the pizza is ALWAYS soggy unless you order it "EXTRA" crispy. This is supposed to be a better than average pizza place. Who pays $17 for a soggy pizza?! I can get a non-soggy pizza at Little Caesars for $5 and there are numerous other places in Reno with better pizza for less money. After complaining to the server, she came back with our bill with a 10% discount. The manager or owner was not concerned enough to even stop by our table. Of course if you ignore complaints, they don't exist...right? I will not be going back to South Creek Pizza. I can understand the cooks may have had a bad night or an oversight, but the handling of our experience...
